Apologies for the vanity post. But I want to rant a bit.

In the past few months, ping lists have proliferated to the point of annoyance. And it is especially irksome to find oneself on a list without having requested inclusion.

There's a word for this: .

Ponder this question, Chester: Did I ask to be on your #%&@ing ping list? No? Well, then. Draw the logical conclusion. If I wish to be on your ping list, rest assured you'll be the first to know. But while you wait with bated breath for my entreaty to be a party to your wisdom, I'll thank you not to make the assumption that I consider your blog indispensable.

Personally, I'd like to see pinging stopped entirely, via the placing of a limit on the number of people a post may be directed to -- preferably one, but no more than five, in my opinion. But failing that, it should at least be the case that unsolicited spam has no place on Free Republic.

Thanks, Dog. While my General Interest ping list is purely voluntary, I've started a few State Ping Lists, which were not voluntary.

I always put the notice on them.....

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my ping list!. . .don't be shy.


.....but I wonder if some folks don't want to be on them. I am ALWAYS diligent to honor requests to remove folks from them.

If anyone is on any of my ping lists, and wants off, PLEASE let me know.

I too never asked to be included on your Foxhole Ping List...but I'm very glad I was.

It helps cut down the thread loading time if you have your font set to Smallest while it loads. And you can also set My Comments to "BRIEF" (at top right of page), which also cuts down loading time dramatically.
