AMENDMENT 14
SECTION 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

I think I heard where some guy whose case has been featured on Greta's TV show a lot lately just got convicted of murder for killing a person just like that one.

Big mess in the courts now. California has rightfully granted personhood to unborn babies in certain cases. That being the case, the 14th Amendment applies.

Now for the big problem. Equal protection would demand that baby A and baby B be afforded the same 14th Amendment rights if they are both persons.

Can't wait for the opinions of the justices from the State Courts right on up through SCOTUS.

Of course the fetus is an "individual".

No blood is shared between mother and baby in the womb. Their two hearts beat individually. The umbilical cord does not attach to the mother, it attaches to the placenta, which is a separate and distinct organ which implants in the uterine wall to serve as a conduit for nutrients and waste to pass between mother and baby.

I have also heard a fetus compared to a "tumor". Every cancer survivor I know considers the cancer a separate entity which invaded their body, not a part of themselves. So even that pathetic analogy fails.

Bottom line, the fetus is absolutely a separate, human, individual, notwithstanding the intellectual contortions of the pro-abortion crowd.

It IS a person it is life being kept alive by the grace of a host being a mother but most of all it is a person created by the grace of God .

The only physical attachment to the mother is 1 cord but the mental attachment for the mother has proved to be More overwhelming EVEN to the coldest hearted woman who would choose to destroy the she holds!

Even after an abortion the host will be haunted by tremors of emptiness for the rest of its life regardless of the weight of childbearing that is lifted after death !

For proper interpretation, one must separate the clauses found between the semicolons. The terms "Born" or "Naturalized" refers to citizenship. This Amendment prohibits the states from making laws which infringe on the rights of citizens. It ALSO prohibits the states from denying due process or equal protection to any PERSON notwithstanding their citizenship status.

If due process and equal protection were to apply only to citizens, the Amendment would read, in part: "nor shall any State deprive any citizen of the United States of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any citizen of the United States within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

So frankly, Sam, one CAN argue with this logic because it is incorrect.

My youngest son was born at home. Instead of cutting the umbilical cord right away, my midwife waited until the placenta came out. He was still a person, but still completely attached to me.
