Enough of the whining. No more individuals who feel the need to make an Opus. No more "If I can't have the old forum...(whatever)." If you feel the need to make a criticism, make it. But, don't throw out all the good new stuff in the process. I sincerely believe that legitimate criticism and suggestions are being listened to and acted upon. Let's make the new forum format better than the old one and not just piss and moan.
My suggestions:
1. Allow viewing of all latest posts across different forums to be an option.
2. Reinstate the small search window that used to be at the top.
3. Allow users to hide the left and right frames, perhaps with a button at the top of each. This will give those with lower screen resolution the option to have more text visible.
4. Allow choosing of right sidebar content directly from the topics screen.

Amen. Make that #5 on my list too.
Agreed. Having posted suggestions and firm criticism in several threads, I've already seen changes, and I thank Jim and all those involved who are willing to listen and do the HARD WORK to make the changes. The faded flag in the left sidebar is already gone (yeah!), the breaking news and other topics sidebars have been increased from 5 to what, about 25? Thats just GREAT! Hope to see the whole left sidebar go as well :)
Isn't this type of labeling the very THING that keeps us from discussing, rationally, our REASONS for the dislike?
This is not user friendly, and not Eye friendly....
The Blue ink is hard on the eyes.....
honest ,,,, when you look at it first it looks a like MAZE........... the whole idea of a SITE is to make it USER friendly and not Computer Nerd Friendly.
From Jim Robinson:
By the way, we will be working over the weekend and the next few days, to try to make the new FR face lift a little less shocking. It will all be back to (almost) normal soon. Hang in there.
Have received thousands of comments, emails and FRmail complaints and compliments today (running about 10 to 1 in the complaint department). Will not be able to answer all (or even most), but we will do what we can to make things better.
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks Jim.
No argument here.
I hate change. If this is how it is to be, then I will either have to adjust or move on.
Sorry. I am not whining. I loved the old Free Republic. When I have to "fight" to find something, or post something, I usually throw my hands in the air, and go on down the street. Sorry, this my opinion.
No disrespect to you, but at every site I have ever been to that has picked up new engineers with all new ideas, then the change happens overnight.......the load times are longer.....nothing is comfortable anymore.
Sorry for the rant, but Free Republic meant a lot to me. I'd just hate to lose it.

No doubt there are plenty of new ideas in there, and improved ways of looking at things, but all I want are the new stories posted sequentially by date and quick access to whatever anybody else might be saying to my posts.
Otherwise, most of the features, new or old, don't have much interest for me.
