This is the only place, that I know of, where the "TRUTH" can be Located. My sentiments, exactly!

E equals m c squared! F equals m a! The gradient of E is 4 pi rho! The d'Alembertian of the vector potential four-vector is minus mu naught times the current density four-vector!
Bring it on tough guy...
How the hell do I know what accusations you may or may not've made, dude... I don't pay much attention to folks unless they're discussin' booze, smokes or good strong country lovin'... I DO take offense at that buggy whip comment though.

You emphasize political activism, but what I mainly like about Free Republic is the opportunity to read a variety of articles and participate in discussions about them. As long as Free Republic satisfies my selfish need to discuss the issues of the day I'll stick around and contribute to it.

Why can't you make Free Republic a pay-per-use website? I think it's worth at least $10.00 a month. Not to offensive, and gets people paying.More and more websites are becoming payment/membership oriented. You register, and have to be paid up in order to log on (usually with a card "on file" which the host debits every month), or you pay for the year and get a discount off the monthly rate. I think that would work here, too, and cut down on the rate of "disuptors" as well.

Keep it up, Jim! You're doing a great job.

That would be fantastic! Then I'D be one of the oldies. ;-)

I believe you missed my point. All of the users are who bring value to FR, by our posting of news and discussing it is what makes this site valuable. I'm just pointing out that this site has a problem like napster (not legal issues, but how do you charge for it). If they charge then a lot of the posters will go away. Without all the posters the site is less valuable. The less valuable the site the less people will visit.

Naturally, I'd hate to see FR vanish-
1- where else would so many hear our voices? Do you really want to go back to the days of "letters to the local paper?"
2- "Comforting the afflicted, and afflicting the comfortable" is an honorable avocation. Don't give your enemies the satisfaction!
3- the online, realtime commentary almost instantly dissects spin, lies, & propaganda. One day all news will be like this ( maybe! )- stay on the leading edge.
All you I have pinged? Excuse me if I repeat your names, of if you are among the few who have asked to be dropped.... I do not keep a "ping list"- this was made, right now, by going back & copying names from my "self-search," and it's a one-time deal.

And a PS- I'm sending a donation today- how about you?

I like what you said in your post.
Cheers, CC :)

"quit screwing around with those bitter, anti-freeper nitwits. They're bad seed.... Each and every one of 'em. "
I disagree with that. Sure, there's a bad apple (or two) over there. But you are painting with an awfully broad brush when you claim that "each and every one of them" is bad news.
That simply isn't true.
Take care,
Callahan

I like the idea suggested a while ago in this thread (I can't remember who said it sorry whoever did). It was basically to charge anyone who wanted to
post, but not anyone who wanted to
lurk.
I think that idea has some potential. Maybe even divide it up more and make it so you can pay to post like one time, or pay like a monthly post fee for unlimited posting.
To: Jim Robinson
Well, as I post this, there have been over 1000 replies and I haven't read them all and someone may have already mentioned this:
Jim, why not consider more advertising on the site to pay the bills?

"I've looked at both sides of the '69 lunar "landing" issue. I'm still not convinced we went."Save your breath, Harry.
90% of the current crop of Freepers weren't born in '69.
They only know what Big Brother wants them to know...

It aint so, JimWhew! Great news! You had me worried there for a minute Jim.
Screw the AF's and long live FREE REPUBLIC!!!

On the issue of keeping Free Republic, Darth Sidious votes "aye"! May it live long and prosper :-)

Jim, how about an online auction? Everyone has things that they don't want, but others do. I'm sure everyone here would donate something special to it and it could really take off! What do you think?

Let's keep it going. Heck, I just dropped off a (non-political list) that took up a lot of my time. I'm looking forward to staying here for a while.
