I beg you, please read this. I am 56 years old and not exactly a computer
literate. I tried to register to post and got nothing. I ask you, I beg you
to listen. In this time of anger and horror I belive I have stumbled upon
something that is much more "in your face" than buying flags or ribbons to
send a message to these subspecies who attacked our nation. I came up with
an idea: I want to make it a new, overnight sensation like the yellow
ribbons fad--but this is yellow ribbons with "meat". I just don't know how
and am desperate. I was talking to my stockbroker this a.m. who called to
assure me that when the towers went down, my investments (heavily in that
tower) didn't go with it. Then it came to me---I want every American who has
stocks in the market to forego greed for a moment and NOT sell their stocks
when the market opens. And, I want to start a movement that says if you own
stocks or not, when the market opens BUY something---it may be one stock or
a
bunch--but buy and show these assholes we are not down...this packs more of
a
puch than ribbons and flags. You can buy some stock for the price of a movie
ticket. Please--do it for your country. Please post this for me on your
website, I don't know how. And now, I will tell you one more thing. I am a
devote democrat who will probably fight you to my death. I am a member of
the Democratic Underground site--a charter member. My name is Starpass. I
have been around too long and I know the difference between head to head
fights over visions for this country (and,. God knows, I want to make sure
that we who produce the wealth have a share in it) and the defense of this
country which I have loved for so long and always have tears in my eyes for.
A relative is a 3 star general in the Air Force and a fighter pilot hero of
Nam, my husband was a medic in Viet Nam (the only one of his training group
that survived)--and I still hold him during nighmares when it comes back upon
him). I am fierce about my country.You may disagree about it's politics, but
right now that does not amount to a rat's ass. Right now we have a country
to save---and right now more than any guy with a gun, it depends on the
opening bell of the stock market. Only this once, I beg you to put this on
your website. From then on, we will agree to disagree.....but I raised three
beautiful, college educated children who I will not leave the ashes of NYC
to....I will leave to them the dream I have in my heart for this nation and I
need your help....please...from a proud American called Starpass.

The other is that the twin towers should be rebuilt as soon as possible as a memorial to those who were innocent in meeting death. What more profound answer than to rebuild what was taken away as a symbol that you can strike at us but you can't kill the American spirit.

However, I will not accept a penny of profit tomorrow, or the day the exchanges open. Whether I resell those shares in a day, week or year, 100% of the profit, if any, I will donate to the American Red Cross.
I'd like you to consider doing something similar. Use the strategy that works for you in the market, be it going long, short, buying options or whatever. Then give the profits back. Not forever, but for a day. Please pass this message on to others.
May God have mercy on us all.
I rather suspect that certain very large financial interests are taking a 'proactive' approach to the problems they face when the equities markets reopen...
