President Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin on Thursday announced the repeal of a 2009 policy allowing the federal government to regulate the emissions of fossil fuels by declaring them dangerous to public health.
Trump called the repeal “the single largest deregulatory action in American history” and said it would “save American consumers trillions of dollars.”
“We are officially terminating the so-called endangerment finding, a disastrous Obama-era policy that severely damaged the American auto industry and massively drove up prices for American consumers,” Trump said in the White House Roosevelt Room.
“Effective immediately, we are repealing the ridiculous endangerment finding and terminating all additional green emission standards imposed unnecessarily on vehicle models and engines between 2012 and 2027 and beyond.”
Trump said the action could lower car costs by an average of nearly $3,000 and blasted auto innovations that he said were tied to the policy.
“Under the endangerment finding, they forced the hated start-stop feature onto American consumers, which unnecessarily shuts off a car’s engine. When you stop at a red light, in other words, the engine goes off. That’s great,” Trump said.
Zeldin said the Republicans were scrapping the “Holy Grail of federal regulatory overreach.”

I still read his name as Led Zeppelin.
Finally! CO2 was never a “pollutant.
Cue the district court judges with unpronounceable names.
I think larger deregulatory actions were re-enabling the purchasing and owning of gold, and the de-regulation of home brewing.
The Trump administration on Thursday revoked a scientific finding that long has been the central basis for U.S. action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change, the most aggressive move by the president to roll back climate regulations.
The rule finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency rescinds a 2009 government declaration known as the endangerment finding that determined that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare.
The endangerment finding by the Obama administration is the legal underpinning of nearly all climate regulations under the Clean Air Act for motor vehicles, power plants and other pollution sources that are heating the planet.
Legal challenges are certain for an action that repeals all greenhouse gas emissions standards for cars and trucks, and could unleash a broader undoing of climate regulations on stationary sources such as power plants and oil and gas facilities, experts say. Overturning the finding will “raise more havoc” than other actions by the Trump administration to roll back environmental rules, said Ann Carlson, an environmental law professor at the UCLA School of Law.
Now do tetraethyl Lead.
Getting rid of stop-start. Hope it includes changes to diesel engines to run without DEF. A couple of years ago several individuals I worked with went across the state line to Texas to have the DEF system removed and engine recomputed. Expensive and voided warranties, but didn’t have to buy DEF especially when puting on over a hundred miles or more per day driving to remote oil and gas sites in remote SE NM.
“Under the endangerment finding, they forced the hated start-stop feature onto American consumers, which unnecessarily shuts off a car’s engine. When you stop at a red light, in other words, the engine goes off. That’s great,” Trump said. Yeah, right in the middle of traffic.
Where was this version of Lee zeldon when he was running for governor of New york?

"Led Zeppelin!"
Thanks for that. RIP John Bonham.
:)
No. Lead is poisonous. It is not something you literally want floating around.
CO2 is a plant growth stimulant. It doesn’t get more green than that.
This may be his best move yet. Terrific. I like how he specifically called out the idiot and hated start/stop BS that makes your engine shut off at every f’n red light. I just hope the car makers will let us disable it permanently on existing cars since it will take a year or two before cars no longer have it.
Need to Destroy the waiver the federal EPA gave the Ca Air Resource Board that allows them to dictate emissions laws in CA.
Everyone just builds cars to CA spec to make it easier as anything CA spec is EPA compliant.....
