Trump’s tariffs and immigration raids are driving the latest farm crisis. White farmers have stood by him year after year—and still do.
On Monday, Donald Trump announced that his administration will give farmers a $12 billion bailout—a tacit admission that his trade policies suck. Farmers have spent much of the last year complaining about rising production costs, falling crop prices and the loss of multiple markets due to Trump’s tariffs and the trade wars they have launched. All in all, farmers are projected to lose roughly $44 billion in profits this year, in large part because of Trump administration policies. Caleb Ragland, president of the American Soybean Association, has called Trump’s trade tariffs an “artificial barrier” to American farmers’ success—essentially, a man-made farming crisis.
“Most of the Black farmers in this country voted for Kamala Harris. I endorsed Harris publicly,” John Boyd Jr., the founder and president of the National Black Farmers Association, told me. “White farmers—99.9 percent voted Trump.”.....
It’s true that farming is hard. Every farmer must contend with bad weather, unpredictable crop prices, surging inflation—and, under this president, tariffs. But only Black farmers must struggle against a Department of Agriculture that stands against them.
“We love our farmers,” Trump said at the same White House event where he announced the bailout, per NPR. “And as you know, the farmers like me, because, you know, based on, based on voting trends, you could call it voting trends or anything else.”
That’s certainly true for white farmers. And with the latest payout, looks like that won’t be changing anytime soon.

When Obama was elected I initially consoled myself saying at now we can get this race baiting mindset behind us, unfortunately Rush was right when he predicted that Obama would make it worse.

OK. Big farmers, corporations, things like that are hurting. The American family farm isn’t hurting any more than they normally are. As a matter of fact, they’ll probably be doing better because prices will raise.
AND she votes.
Under Trump’s tariff pressure the Chinese are again buying US soybeans in quantities similar to before Trump imposed the tariffs. Trump has exerted the same tariff leverage on other countries showing he means business with tariffs and has gotten huge concessions from those countries resulting in opening markets in those countries to US goods and billions of dollars of foreign investment in this country. All of the dire predictions of Trump’s tariffs tanking the US economy have been proven false.
Sadly US agriculture has grown so accustomed to government bailouts that is a way of life. My brother in law used to tease his wealthy farmer cousins saying the only equipment a farmer needed was a free seed corn hat so their head didn’t get sunburned on the way to their mailbox to pick up their government checks.
I imagine her options for humans are rather unappealing considering they're all liberals. In the absence of a friend, she can readily find a suitable "companion" in the form of a battery-powered rubber novelty, down at the local dirty bookstore.

The lack of slave labor lead to innovation in the north which allowed northern farmers to vastly outproduce southern farmers, including in cotton and the other agricultural products that were the cornerstone of the southern economy - one of a number of reasons the South was doomed to fail.
Relying on low-paid illegal workers is along the same lines - the Left cares only about narratives. Not the well being of anyone. They exploit the vulnerable. The Somali situation is just the latest example. Some Somalis have blown the whistle that systemically they were prevented from assimilating and becoming productive residents/citizens and were encouraged to exploit government assistance programs. Now they are generationally locked in this pattern culturally - intentionally destroyed economically, educationally, etc. to create a powerbase for the Left to exploit and use.
In summary, yes, The Nation is strongly left-leaning and highly critical of Trump—what could reasonably be called “Trump-hating” in its editorial stance.....

Sounds like Kali should round up some of her ‘hood kin and grab those farm jobs that Trump’s policies have opened up to legal citizens that need to get off welfare - I mean find jobs.
