New York City’s Jewish fire commissioner Robert Tucker handed in his resignation first thing Wednesday — just one day after anti-Israel Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was elected, The Post has learned.

Tucker, a Jewish philanthropist and businessman, will step down from the role he has held for just over 12 months on Dec. 19, sources said.

He will go back to running the private security firm he headed before joining Mayor Adams’ administration, the sources added.

News of Tucker’s resignation came just as the FDNY boss was set to fly to Israel later Wednesday to meet with a fire commissioner in the Jewish state.

Tucker’s reasons for tendering his resignation were not immediately clear. The Post has reached out to the commissioner for comment.

I seriously question the motives of a successful philanthropist and businessman who takes a job like FDNY commissioner in the first place.

The hatred towards the new Mayor will now grow.

How about the man has serious managerial skills and wants to help the city that has helped him build his seriously profitable business. Serious enough for you?

So let’s just cede more ground to them. That’s exactly what they want. It indeed is “The Triumph Of The Will”.

Occams razor suggests he may be altruistic. I’m sceptical too, but maybe he’s just a decent guy.

“private security firm”

That should be a booming business in what will become the even more crime ridden and dangerous New York City.

What do you mean about ‘questionable motives’?
Do you think maybe he was just ‘playing at’ being a FDNY Commissioner, vs that job going to someone more middle class, a man who actually needed the job and was likely to be more hands on?

I know nothing about the players here.
Your post just made me wonder if there was some back story.
New York is on a lot of folks minds this week.

He will go back to running the private security firm he headed before joining Mayor Adams’ administration

Non-foreign NYers may need that firm to be a parallel police force, once Mamdani Islamizes the NYPD completely.

He was working for one of the dumbest people ever to hold elected office in New York — which is saying a lot.

And I am usually one to advocate for successful people in the private sector to get involved in government, but it seems highly unusual to have an FDNY commissioner who never extinguished a working fire in his life.

His biographical profile says he was inspired to do this job because he was always chasing fire engines as a child. This is about a relevant as Pete Buttfudge serving as U.S. Secretary of Transportation because he had some kind of childhood fixation on trains.

We brought them here, and now we have our own Middle East problems in our neighborhood.

I thought it was tradition for the FD and PD commissioners to tender the resignations on election day, so that the new mayor can appoint their new personnel.

At least that is what I gathered watching Blue Bloods.

He’ll be replaced by a muslim. That’s how this type of Jihad works. The new muslim guy will make sure everyone who works for him is muslim, they’ll only hire muslims and pretty soon NYC is London.
