The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has officially sworn in Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D. as the first National Advisor for Nutrition, Health, and Housing, an appointment that aligns with the administration’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative.
In announcing the swearing-in, USDA Secretary Brooke L. Rollins stated, “There is no one more qualified than Dr. Carson to advise on policies that improve Americans’ everyday quality of life, from nutrition to healthcare quality to ensuring families have access to safe and stable housing.” Rollins also cited “six in ten Americans living with at least one chronic disease, and rural communities facing unique challenges with respect to adequate housing” as reasons Dr. Carson’s insights are “critical.”
Carson, a retired neurosurgeon and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, said upon his appointment, “Today, too many Americans are suffering from the effects of poor nutrition. Through common-sense policymaking, we have an opportunity to give our most vulnerable families the tools they need to flourish.”

Under this appointment, Dr. Carson is also expected to play a role in the upcoming update to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which guide nutrition standards for federal programs, including SNAP and school lunch programs. Rollins has indicated that Carson will be “crucial to implementing the rural health investment provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill and advise on America First policies.”
State officials have already commented on the appointment. In a statement posted on the Texas Department of Agriculture’s website, Commissioner Sid Miller said, “Today’s swearing-in of my friend, Dr. Ben Carson, as the United States Department of Agriculture’s first National Nutrition Advisor is a big win for American families and farmers.”

Wonderful.
welcome back!
Dr. Carson is a great man. I have never heard a just word against him. An incredible legacy of integrity by all reasonable accounts.
Wait, he’s not comically fat, tragically stupid, or unsure of what sex he is. How did we let this happen as a nation??
Good!
First order of business? Fix S.N.A.P. No more soda and chips bought on the Taxpayer’s Dime.
Thank you, Doctor! :)
Love Dr. Carson.
Awesome to have him on Team Trump.
This is a significant appointment. It could lead to a total rewrite of health texts.
That’s racist.
Don’t ask me why.
But if I say that you have to back off and give me HoHos and cream soda to wash that down with.
BTW, where can I get the free syringes and insulin on the tax payers dime?
Good points.
If you’re diabetic through no fault of your own, you have to pay your own way.
If it’s from eating Ho Hos and drinking Cream Soda, then you get all the free medical care you need. ;)
The best news I’ve seen in a while. Wow!
You mean ‘Rats on Capitol Hill didn’t get a chance to sully his reputation and assail his character as is customary?
LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr Ben Carson, such a wonderful human being!
but "SNAP and school lunch programs" should not exist.
My best friend growing up is now a dietician, and one of his brothers put up a question: Opening lines for dates.
My entry: Ma'am, I am a Registued Dietician, and in my professional opinion,
You need a little sugar.
No idea why Ben Carson brought up that memory, but that's how my brain works. Or doesn't.
Ridiculous...Orange juice has more sugar than a lot of sodas.
And most soups have more salt than chips.
lol!!
Yup.
Ponder this one:
A natural women needing HRT in older age to prevent osteoporosis and a slew of other health risks if these levels are low, often has to pay large sums out of pocket for her treatment.
If a man pretending to be a woman wants the estrogen as part of his MTF transition, he can get it paid for through insurance or various other programs.
I’m sure Dr. Carson knows that.
That’s why HE got the job and you and I didn’t!
I just used those random examples of things people buy with our tax dollars that are bad for them. There are plenty more!
My dad was not a book reader, but he read Dr. Carson’s book from cover to cover and told everyone he knew about how great a man he was.
He’s going to be great in this role, especially by using his skills as a doctor to help people in the black community to adopt healthier eating habits.
