California Democrats used a special session last week to approve $50 million in funding to resist President-elect Donald Trump as wildfires rage in the southern part of the Golden State.
The state legislature is in a session aimed at combatting the incoming Trump administration’s proposed policies regarding illegal immigration, among other issues. Democrats in the state legislature have come to a $50 million agreement to ready defense against some Trump administration policies, according to a report from Politico.
The deal would provide $25 million for the California Department of Justice to levy legal challenges to Trump policies, as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) requested, while the other $25 million would be used to defend against deportation of illegal immigrants, going toward immigration groups and centers, per the report.
“This funding agreement cements California’s readiness to serve as a bulwark against Trump’s extremist agenda,” Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener told the outlet in a statement.
The legislature’s continued focus on combatting Trump before he takes office, as the wildfires still rage in Los Angeles, has been heavily criticized by Republican lawmakers in the state. State Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher blasted the reported deal in a statement Sunday evening.
“At a time when California should be laser focused on responding to the devastating wildfires in LA, Democrat lawmakers’ priority is creating a $50 million slush fund to hire government lawyers for hypothetical fights against the federal government and to defend criminal illegal immigrants from being returned to their home countries,” Gallagher said in a post on X. “The disconnect between what Californians need and what Democrats are focused on is astounding.”

Let them burn.
So now they’re actually FUNDING the insurrection?
If Jan 6 was a crime, this should be tenfold.
I can’t believe the politicians are so petty and shallow that this is what they’re concerned about while their state burns.
They have totally betrayed the people who they were elected to represent.
“No soup for you!”
I thought California politicians wanted Trump to bail them out from the wildfires.
Spending money like meth addicts.
That settles it, no Federal aid, if they can afford 50 million to subvert the will of a national election they can afford to cover the costs of the wildfire
Some of them certainly caught fire like meth addicts...
RE: Cali federal bailout:
What would be normal would be disaster relief, with which I hope Trump blackmails them:
REVERSE OR REPEAL YOUR 50M DESIGNATED FOR “TRUMP PROOFING” AND WE’LL APPROVE DISASTER RELIEF. NOT UNTIL AND I DON’T GIVE A RAT’S ASS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. -—DjT
Agreed.
Elections have consequences.

Way to get on the good side of the guy who’s going to be in control of how much federal aid your state gets starting next week.
California will sue to keep their slaves.
No aid for demonrats. Period
Reap/Sew
Sounds like insurrection to me…
Let’s apply same standard the last administration used…
I hear there’s plenty of room at Gitmo.
LET’S SEE:
They didn’t have $$$ to keep reservoirs full
They didn’t have $$$ to keep Hydrants repaired
They didn’t have $$$ to keep fire engines in repair
They didn’t have $$$ to hire the best fire fighters possible
They didn’t have $$$$ to keep the FIRE BREAKS in the hills maintained
THEY ARE BEGGING TRUMP TO COME FORWARD & GIVE THEM $$$$$$$$ TO CLEAN UP & REPAIR & REBUILD
BUT THEY CAN FIND $50 MILLION TO “RESIST TRUMP” AT EVERY TURN
DO I HAVE THIS CORRECT????????
NEWSCUM’S FINAL LEGACY-—COUNT ON IT
If the democrats want cause trouble for President Trump shouldn’t the financial cost of that come from private money? I’m pro Trump and I absolutely disagree with my tax dollars going to sabotage his presidency. It should be illegal!!
corrupt California tumbles into the sea
