When Richard Nixon resigned and left the White House in August 1974, it wasn’t the only unprecedented action that shook the country. For the only time in U.S. history, both an unelected president and an unelected vice president served in the nation’s highest offices.
A chain of events led to President Gerald Ford and Vice President Nelson Rockefeller in the White House. Less than a year earlier, in October 1973, with Nixon already reeling from the Watergate scandal, his vice president, Spiro Agnew resigned after pleading no contest to income tax evasion.
For most of American history, the position would have remained vacant until the next election. But passage of the 25th Amendment in 1967 called for the president to appoint a new VP, subject to confirmation by Congress.

When Squeaky Fromme was arrested after her failed assassination attempt on Ford, one of her motivations was that he was an illegitimate president because he was never elected.

Yes and with the election of 1976 they had the opportunity to address that. Of course back then we had no alternative media only the Big Three networks and print media - and SNL- to sell Ford as a clumsy buffoon which gave us the useless Carter. Those days are GONE!

University of Michigan Football Team (1931-1935): Gerald Ford played center and linebacker for the University of Michigan Wolverines football team.
Team MVP (1934): In his senior season, Ford started at center for all of Michigan’s games and was named team MVP.
All-State in High School: Ford was named all-state in high school, which earned him a scholarship to play at the University of Michigan.
National Championship Teams (1932 and 1933): Ford helped the Wolverines win two undefeated seasons and national titles in 1932 and 1933.

not really sure what the point of the article is. The Constitutional process was followed. Nixon should have been sanctioned, thats it. Zero evidence he committed any crime. The mid terms were approaching and his own party stabbed him in the back. The whole Watergate thing was a joke, insider Washington garbage. He still holds the record for the most vote plurality over his opponent. He beat McGovern by over 16 million votes..ouch.
And the other unprecedented action was Ford’s pardon of Nixon.
Yes, I was just an innocent, naive kid then, so ignorant of any politics. I do remember the Bicentennial celebrations, though, and it did seem to be a big unifying event. We probably needed that after Nixon's resignation.
The point about Kamala being unelected isn’t because of a presidents resignation you insufferable twits.
The point is that the DNC intentionally and knowingly hid Biden’s condition until the primaries were well past and THEN refused an open delegation of the convention.
The only people that got to “vote” for Kamala was Obama and Biden when most of the DNC voters would’ve preferred Bernie or maybe even Kennedy who were barred from even attempting a primary run.
I think they are trying to create an equivalency with Joe Biden. But Nixon resigned and Biden is still around stirring up trouble.
