The article admits that blacks are fine in red states, which begs the question as to why that is.

I don’t believe money is the issue, but I do believe that money getting to student directly is a factor. If the money is eaten up by the administration, there not money in the world to satiate greed by the administration.

My radar is quite attuned to who is black vs who is an “N”.

If my radar doesn’t give a clear signal, I just avoid.
It doesn’t hurt being a built 6’2” 215.

THE DEI THAT DID-IN HARVARD’s PRESIDENT-—source: Fr thread

Harvard deleted nearly all DEI materials from its website following President Claudine Gay’s disastrous congressional testimony, in which she declined to say whether advocating for the genocide of Jews is permissible on campus. Recovered DEI documents through an Internet archive show
<><>DEI urges students to internalize the Critical Race Theory narrative,
<><>that America is systemically racist,
<><>that it is riddled with white-baiting code words
<><>words like “police brutality,” “white supremacist violence,” “weaponization of whiteness.”
<><>students are told to “unpack” their so-called “white” and “male” privileges,
<><>to consider their “white fragility,”
<><>ghetto-nurtured DEI says white privilege accrues to whites

After decades of pro-black racism in admissions, they’re worse off?

How about we try EQUALITY?

Liberals espouse the lie that people are basically good and they go bad due to unfortunate circumstances in their lives.

So by correcting them, giving them free stuff, improving their education and standard of living, they will naturally become moral and upright people who do good and want to help others.

NOTHING could be further from the truth.

Mankind’s problems are character issues, issues of the heart and not circumstances.

The article admits that blacks are fine in red states, which begs the question as to why that is.

I don't think they are "fine" in all red states. I suspect there are two different factors at work here:

1. For many red states in the South, public schools in general are notoriously mediocre. In these states, it is probably true that black students aren't any worse than white students -- but most of these students (black and white) do poorly compared to public school students across the nation as a whole.

2. For red states in the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains, blacks are a very small portion of the population and are not clustered in urban dumps like New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, etc. In these states, your average black student probably attends a predominantly white school. The influence of "ghetto culture" in schools isn't a factor in these states.

“It doesn’t hurt being a built 6’2” 215”

5’8” and 150 pounds. Wear bifocals. But I live in a state where concealed carry is very legal. And where blacks make up around 5% of the population and many of the blacks live in the suburbs.

Unfortunately, I had a black “friend” of 3 years who accused me of racism in 2020 when I pointed out Saint George Floyd died of a drug overdose when the ambulance the cops called for couldn’t get there in time. It wasn’t just the accusation but the vitriol that came with it that means I’ll never feel comfortable around a black man again. If a “friend” of multiple years, that I had eaten with, prayed for and with and joked with harbored that much hate inside, then how can I trust a stranger?

It bothered me for several years but I guess my bucket of racial sympathy has run dry as a bone. BTW - my wife isn’t white...but I’m a racist. Screw all liberal bastards of any color!

“I’ve spent most of my life hoping to see progress and thought we were making some up thru the 90s. Then came Obama...”

Same here, and I believe that yes, we were. I’d never really considered myself a racist until I was suddenly 24/7 accused of being one for no reason. I was suddenly ‘privileged’ and needed to be punished. My ancestors came here as indentured laborers, and we were dirt poor for generations. It was not until my folks’ generation that we we made it up to middle class. At least two of my forebears fought for the duration of the Civil War for the Union, and one of them lost a foot. And then Obama comes along and incites hatred towards us. F him.

There is no lack of funding in the inner cities. Spend per pupil can top $20k per year. What democrats do is provide a disgustingly sub-standard product at a ridiculously high cost.

I doubt Arizona has a majority black school. A lot of people in the east don’t know about the demographics in the west. In California, 40% are Latino, 35% are white, 15% are Asian American or Pacific Islander, 5% are Black, 4% are multiracial. I suspect outside of the pockets of inner city blacks, California is maybe 2% black...and 40% Latino, and 15% Asian!

The whole “black/white divide crumbles when there are 3 times as many Asians as Blacks....

Anecdotal evidence, from what I have observed, is that blacks seem more receptive to the environmental factors around them than whites or Asians. So, in inner cities, because the environment is so bad, they are especially affected by what is happening around them.

Amen. My parents were not allowed to wear shoes to school until there was frost on the ground. My grandparents didn’t own a home until their 60s, and then bought an 800 sq ft home. My Dad died in Vietnam. Somehow I think I’ve had a great life - but it wasn’t handed to me!

And my wife was born incredibly poor in a foreign country. When she was 19, she was 5’2” and weighted 80 pounds - starvation. For perspective, when she weighed 100 pounds, she still had a 22 inch waist...so at 80, she was barely alive. She eventually became a nurse, we raised our kids, saved money, bought a home in our late 40s and we’re doing fine...but heaven help someone who tells her she was born to privilege!

I have family who spent time in rural Africa. The kids there would walk 5 miles to get to the school. The school had few books and no electricity or plumbing. But they learned to read and write and do math BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO.

Racism was 100 times worse in the 1940s but blacks had families back then.

For SAT math scores:

“Of those scoring above 700, 43% are Asian and 45% are white, compared to 6% Hispanic or Latino and 1% Black.”

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/sat-math-scores-mirror-and-maintain-racial-inequity/

There just aren’t enough high-scoring blacks to meet top universities’ diversity goals.

Thomas Sowell has entered the chat.

“Letters from teachers continue to confirm the incompetence which they deny. A teacher in Montana says that my criticisms of teachers are “nieve.” No, that wasn’t a typographical error. He spelled it that way twice.” - Thomas Sowell

“Nothing could be more jolting and discordant with the vision of today’s intellectuals than the fact that it was businessmen, devout religious leaders, and Western imperialists who together destroyed slavery around the world. And if it doesn’t fit their vision, it is the same to them as if it never happened.” - Thomas Sowell

- - - - - - - - - -

“We seem to be moving steadily in the direction of a society where no one is responsible for what he himself did, but we are all responsible for what somebody else did, either in the present or in the past.” - Thomas Sowell

- - - - - - - - - -

“The poverty rate among black married couples has been in single digits ever since 1994. You would never learn that from most of the media. Similarly if you look at those blacks that have gone on to college or finished college, the incarceration rate is some tiny fraction of what it is among those blacks who have dropped out of high school. So it’s not being black; it’s a way of life. Unfortunately, the way of life is being celebrated not only in rap music, but among the intelligentsia, is a way of life that leads to a lot of very big problems for most people.” - Thomas Sowell

“There are few talents more richly rewarded with both wealth and power, in countries around the world, than the ability to convince backward people that their problems are caused by other people who are more advanced.” - Thomas Sowell

“Groups that rose from poverty to prosperity seldom did so by having their own racial or ethnic leaders to follow.” - Thomas Sowell

“Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good.” - Thomas Sowell

- - - - - - - - - -

"Our schools and colleges are laying a guilt trip on those young people whose parents are productive, and who are raising them to be productive. What is amazing is how easily this has been done, largely just by replacing the word "achievement" by with the word "privilege". - Thomas Sowell

"The most fundamental fact about the ideas of the political left is that they do not work. Therefore we should not be surprised to find the left concentrated in institutions where ideas do not have to work in order to survive." - Thomas Sowell

"Ours may become the first civilization destroyed, not by the power of our enemies, but by the ignorance of our teachers and the dangerous nonsense they are teaching our children. In an age of artificial intelligence, they are creating artificial stupidity." - Thomas Sowell
