Wow….its cold in January.
This is crazy stuff.
Before you know it, July will arrive and I bet we will hear equally crazy stories about how hot it is.
How can this be?
I’m in Chicagoland, and it is abnormally cold for this time of year. 25 degrees? Normal. -10 without wind chill overnight? NOT normal. We had -13 the other night, and -28 with wind factored in.
However, I’m not implying that climate change has anything to do with this. Some years are warmer, some colder. We have a year that’s colder than average. That’s all.
Behold, a $hitcagoan without guile!
Yep, it's been mighty frigid down here in TN this week and the cold has stuck around too long for my taste. But we've been overdue for one of these cold hits. I was afraid it was going to be a doozy when we finally got one and it has been.
But next week, we'll be above normal. Weather does what weather does. We're just along for the ride.
I'm ready to get off of this one! LOL
Simple: Climate Change™ of course.
Too hot? Climate Change™
Too cold? Climate Change™
Too wet? Climate Change™
Too dry? Climate Change™
There's nothing that Climate Change™ can't do!
Thank God for global boiling.
Just think how cold it would be if we didn’t have that going for us.
It happens every year, but those dummies make it sound like it's something new. I got stranded in Lancaster, Pa. for two extra days due to an ice storm. I'd been traveling back home from S.C. This was around 1998. It was January, and Route 81 both ways was closed due to ice and tractor trailers having gone off the road. My old VW wouldn't start because the windchill was -40. There were rolling blackouts at the hotel I was staying at, due to the extreme temperatures, something I'd never experienced before. When the roads finally reopened, I called AAA to give my car a jump so I could finally get home.
I live in central NY State, in the Mohawk Valley...the foothills of the Adirondacks. We've had temperatures in the teens this week during the day. It's 4 degrees outside right now, but it nothing that we haven't had in the past.
This is a government-caused problem.
A winter warning alert is as big a hoax as a “covid” case.
Right
What’s the difference between a COVID-related death and a cold-related death?
who'd have thunk it....cold in winter...
where about are you in NYS...went to school in Utica....
Can't wait. My A/C works better than my heat-pump...
Yikes! This mess dove that far south? That’s brutal cold for that area. Layer up to stay warm if your heat pump doesn’t behave. I keep hearing bad things about them and am glad I don’t have one. I still dress in layers, though, since I keep the thermostat lower than I’d really like to pinch a few pennies. Propane’s expensive.
That 82 you expect in a few days sure does sound nice! It’ll be a while before that graces this area. LOL
It took four stiffs at ‘Nothing But Communism’ to tell us it’s cold here in January.
Most of the northern states are sorta prepared for cold weather, both physically and mentally, since they’ve been thru it many times before
Where it seem really tough is in the southern states, where they’re not used to it - houses that are uninsulated, no snowplows or road-salters, no plane-deicing equipment, people don’t know how to drive properly in snowy or icy conditions, etc.
Fortunately, the Polar Vortex is now receding everywhere, after a week of hell ...
How? Only illegal aliens feel climate change. Horizontal said so.
kinda like..."for all you climate change freaks...bite me".
Winter warning means...it's probably January or February.
“it’s been mighty frigid down here in TN this week”
Yup. We’ve been snowed in now for almost a week. The county Highway Dept. has not even attempted to clear roads. (Our taxes will be paid grudgingly.) No mail or deliveries of any kind. No tire tracks. Impossible to get meds, pet food, etc.
My brother lives in a neighboring country and said that last week when the snow came, the head of that highway department ... sent the workers home. (I could be wrong, but I THINK that is when they’re supposed to work extra hard.)
