Speaker Mike Johson (R-LA) backtracked and caved to the deep state and Democrats, moving to slip a deep state authorization into the defense bill.
Reports say that congressional leaders, including Johnson, agreed to put an extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The bill would extend Section 702 until April 19.
This frustrated many conservatives, including those who were supposed to be instrumental in crafting the final texts for the NDAA.
Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) released a video statement after she said that leadership asked conferees, which includes herself, to agree to the 3000-plus page NDAA, which is “being released behind closed doors without even getting time to read it!”
The Peach State conservative blamed Johnson for negotiating with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to “cut a deal” that would contain prohibitions against funding for abortion and “trans surgery prohibitions” that were in the House-passed NDAA under former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

That's what I suspected. Do you have a link? An NBC article written at the time made it sound like Wray was a Trump toadie. Whom should Trump have nominated if he believed he could stare down McConnell?
The FISA and its rubber stamp FISC need to be repealed and dismantled. They are a leftist mechanism to surveil, hound and persecute law abiding American citizens.

Deep state agencies illegally surveil Americans, THEN lies to FISC to get warrants (Remember Russia, Russia, Russia?), FBI escalates, and DOJ indicts. Ultimately, leftist Judges convict.

It has some of the apparent wording one would think that would protect law-abiding Americans but it doesn’t change what they’ll actually DO. Nor does it address the FISC that rubber stamps virtually all of deep-state ‘requests’ for surveillance. Just one mention of ‘someone or something foreign’ and it’s automatic deprivation of our privacy rights.
The FISA is an invitation for abuse by the deep-state, period. It belongs on the trash heap with GWB’s TSA and DHS, AFAIC
This government has not credibly presented evidence/cases that warrant extension for the 4-month period, IMO.

Trump was set up. They knew how they were going to control him. Republicans were talking about Recusal under Trump, when was the last time one used that word? Recusal is lost term under Joe Biden.
Lindsey Graham and the other Republicans in the Senate were out saying how important it was for them to pass Biden’s nominees and Judges.
