Has the air gone out of the “climate crisis” balloon?
It’s starting to look like it. Some other causes du jour are looking limp lately, too.
Oh, hysteria is still out there. In Boston this month, I passed a church where the door bore a lurid poster reading “DUE TO GLOBAL CLIMATE CRISIS, WORSHIP IN SANCTUARY 9-17-23 CANCELED.”
If it were really a global crisis, wouldn’t you want to be praying?
While the soldiers of God had fled the scene in advance, the armies of Mammon were out in force on the Boston Common, in the form of a massive cannabis fair. Say what you will about the stoners, they’re not prone to panic or overthinking
But this seems actually a case of closing church so parishioners could go to New York to “Join us in the March to End Fossil Fuels,” which is even more amusing, since traveling uses a lot more fossil fuels than staying in Boston and praying for an end to fossil fuels, which would be at least as effective.
Bill Gates, however, is pumping the brakes on climate panic.
he observed that heavy-handed policies won’t work: “If you try to do climate brute force, you will get people who say, ‘I like climate but I don’t want to bear that cost and reduce my standard of living.’”
As Gates noted, many of these people are in middle-income countries, like China and India, that are the biggest contributors to carbon emissions today and whose emissions (unlike those of the United States) have been growing.
Gates softening his tone; it feels as if climate outrage has passed its sell-by date.

They push as far as they can, then back off when the backlash gets big enough. All part of the plan.
The important thing is they have moved the Overton Window and get to keep a lot of the stolen ground.
Dems will simply retire that meme and replace it with another manufactured “crisis”.
“They push as far as they can...”
Imagine if we had a party that pushed for things. Wouldn’t that be nice.
Fear mongering is failing. They don’t fear monger with the real threats to Americans, like fascism or nuclear war, which are apparently things they support.
The probable cure for both climate and energy crises is on the horizon with the advent of Copenhagen Atomics small modular molten-salt thorium reactor...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U434Sy9BGf8&t=915s
Tony Robbins once said, and I am paraphrasing, “in order to get back to the middle after an extreme is reached, the opposite extreme must be executed.”
I saw a compelling argument which explained that the earth’s temperature causes CO2 rise, not the other way around.
from the viewpoint of long-term cycles throughout millions of years of earth’s history, temperature and CO2 have both been much higher in past. Now, both temperature and CO2 are at a low point, and seemingly, beginning to rise - but hardly due to man’s activity.
That is good...
We pray for increased global temperature. Each incremental increase allows a massive amount of food production increase. Even one day added to the growing season globally would solve all supply related hunger problems.
The decrease in home heating energy is so massive from a one degree rise it would change energy production dramatically.
We want it warm.
Some people need to be called to account for foisting on us the “global warming” (aka “climate change”) “crisis.”
They never give up.
[[ “If you try to do climate brute force, you will get people who say, ‘I like climate but I don’t want to bear that cost and reduce my standard of living.’”]]
“I like climate”? Sheesh! What can we blame man on ruining next for something he cant in any way shape and form control?
How about “I like gravity, and we all must do our part to pay for our enviro-sins which is causing the destruction of gravity”
I think you miss the point: There is NO climate crisis to solve. It is a hoax, and we play into the statists’ hands by even tactically conceding that there is. I support small scale reactors because they would be a cheaper and an efficient source, but not to solve a nonexistent problem
there was always ZERO chance of anything we do having an effect if China and India were not going to do it also.
And that is assuming there was an issue that could be fixed to begin with!
Too bad all the air hasn’t gone out of Gates
They always do, and too many people fall for their lies.
These climate fascists won’t stop until they control every aspect of your life.
Bill Gates is not backtracking here. He’s regrouping.
