I saw a compelling argument which explained that the earth’s temperature causes CO2 rise, not the other way around.

from the viewpoint of long-term cycles throughout millions of years of earth’s history, temperature and CO2 have both been much higher in past. Now, both temperature and CO2 are at a low point, and seemingly, beginning to rise - but hardly due to man’s activity.

A few years ago I did some searching and found graphs tracking O2 and CO2 back thousands of years ago that showed CO2 was always a lagging indicator.
