A Brooklyn pet store owner is ditching New York City and closing up shop because quality of life in the Big Apple has gone to the dogs.
“It’s time to go because the crime is horrible, the filth is outrageous, the e-bikes and all these Vespas running the sidewalks — it’s just out of control,” Laura Generoso, owner of Wagging Tails in Bay Ridge, told The Post.
“There’s no law and order.”
Generoso posted a sign on the front door of her store and on social media this week, explaining that it was not a financial decision leading her to shut down — she claims 300 to 400 clients and has been in the business since 2006.
Instead, the closure is propelled by “the failure of our politicians and [their] failing policies destroying our city and neighborhood,” the sign said.
Last year, a frightening armed robbery outside spilled into her store and made her fear for her safety.
“I never thought I was gonna leave,” she said.
“I have wonderful clients and I love what I do. But it’s not worth getting shot or killed.”
The Bay Ridge native moved the pet supplies and grooming shop she runs with her husband, Frank, to its 4th Avenue location in 2018.
Now, she’s headed to Boca Raton, Florida, once she closes on Aug. 21.

“Now, she’s headed to Boca Raton, Florida, once she closes on Aug. 21.”
Another NY taxpayer heads to Florida.
Wonder who she’s voted for since 2006
Yeah, but Boca is blue anyway.
Best to have said nothing until the deed was done IMO. Garbage city with too many garbage citizens that might take exception of being called out for the garbage they are.
Enjoy the obnoxious libs in Boca!
Mayor: Well as a city leader, what can we do to make it worth getting shot or killed?
Time for Florida to secede and close its borders.
I’ll bet it was the rat party.
Or she just move to Malibu, Commiefornia.
{snerk!}
“:..instead, the closure is propelled by “the failure of our politicians and [their] failing policies destroying our city and neighborhood,” the sign said.”
Funny how the pendulum doesn’t swing anymore in NY…it used to…
We’ll be bailing out CA and NY in 3, 2...
Hopefully she’s conservative and will open and run a thriving pet store in Florida. She’s younger than I thought and beautiful.
Who wants to bet the useful idiot store owner only votes for democrats?
Ya make your bed you sleep in it
Ill informed posters will moan that those coming from Blue states are bringing their “always vote Democrat” mentality with them.
These political sages have no idea that in just 2 1/2 years the number of registered Republicans vs the number of registered Democrats in Florida has gone from 40,000 more Democrats to today’s landslide numbers. Republicans in Florida now out number Democrats by 540,000. Facts are your friend.
This women is NOT coming to Florida to vote Democrat.
Another one of my favorite statements…not, “you get what you voted for!”
I battle folks on another forum that uses that statement regularly. I live in a blue state and have NEVER voted for a dim in my entire life, nor has my wife or any of my daughters. Yet, due to the problem many suffer from City/State voters, they ruin this state. Only 4 of the 39 Washington State counties vote RAT, but that’s where the population center is. Like Illinois, New York, etc.
This migration out of these cesspools may have a silver lining that the short sided imbeciles will never understand because it’s above their comprehension. It’s the only thing that will change these soon to be feral wastelands, along with genuine blind justice, not what we have today.
And yet, you tolerate it
Your 39 counties lack the will to resist.
I tolerate it only because my 6 figure salary binds me to this state. And I live outside of the Pugetopolis area. I read your posts regularly, what caused you to be so ignorant?
