DeSantis says Trump not only didn’t fulfill major promise, it got worse
Fox News ^ | 7/16/23 | Jessica Chasmar

Republican presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis rattled off a list of what he deemed to be broken 2016 campaign promises by former President Donald Trump, saying he’d rather attack the GOP front-runner on the issues than personality.

"Substantively, we've been very frank about our differences with respect to the former president," the Florida governor said. "I mean, for example, he promised to drain the swamp – it got worse. He did not drain the swamp.

"He promised to have Mexico pay for a border wall. They did like 50 miles of wall. There's massive expanses still there," he continued. "He said he was going to eliminate the national debt. They added almost $8 trillion to the debt in four years.

"And of course, in 2020, he turned the country over to Dr. [Anthony] Fauci, and those lockdowns and the borrowing and printing really set us on a bad course," he added. "I've been very, very frank at that."

“.... Why would President Trump have assumed at the start that Fauci was a corrupt, venial mountebank? ....”

Gauci’s hyperventilating & fraudulent public performances over AIDS. Where he tried to convince everyone, it was going to break out into the heterosexual community! Now I don’t expect Trump to do his own research on people, but you would think his staff would! A 15-minute Internet search would have turn up Fauci’s over-the-top performances and labeled him as the last person you would want making public appearances and statements with Trump! It might have even triggered some deeper research where it would be shown he was deeply compromised with conflict-of-interest violations unless somehow NIH employees are exempt.

“Read what I wrote. But not finishing the border, it made it easy for Biden to re-open the border. Re-open!”

I read what you wrote. Trump had to fight the Republicans, the democrats, the Federal judges, numerous environmental lawsuits, and finally got the go ahead from the Supreme Court to build the wall using defense money. The Republicans refused to give him the money.

The engineers did a great job with the time they had.

Biden said during a debate that he would “flood” the border. He opened the wall. He would have torn down the wall if necessary. They even discussed it.

I see that you are correct about that. It shouldn’t surprise me when the left circle the wagons.
It does appear though that the wall is crumbling
https://nypost.com/2022/12/21/house-gop-report-faults-nancy-pelosi-for-jan-6-security-failures/

Pelosi’s repeated assertions that she has “no power over the Capitol Police” are rejected.

“This is false,” says the report. “Documents provided by [current] House Sergeant at Arms show how then-House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving carried out his duties in clear deference to the Speaker, her staff, and other Democratic staff . . .

“House Rules dictate . . . that the Sergeant at Arms is to report directly to the Speaker of the House.”

“Meanwhile, Trump was out slobbering on Zelenskyy today with Maria Bartorimo.”

The context was negotiating a peace between Russia and Ukraine.

He did not slobber on Zelensky; he dealth with him as a potential negotiating partner with Russia.

Do you think it would be wise for him to slander Zelensky and then try to get him to the negotiating table?

However, I am not sure Vivek has the necessary life and political experience to win a national election as a Republican on his first try

Winning the election will be the easy part.

Forming a government, exercising the awesome powers of the office like it was second nature, and overmastering a hostile Congress?

I cannot imagine Ramaswamy doing any of that.

“He actually said he would give Ukraine more weapons than Biden has, if he has to.”

Context: As a negotiating ploy to get Putin to stop.

“No reason given for why she [Hillary] deserves the nickname of “beautiful” now either.”

Okay, now, do you know what Trump’s wife looks like? Did Trump ever marry a woman who was not beautifu? Now, that shows you who Trump really considers to be beautiful.

Do you really, really, deep down in your heart, thing Trump thinks that Hillary is beautiful? Have you ever heard of the concept of sarcasm?

Wow, you really are stuck on the Trump Fantasy ride at Disney.

Trump backstabbed conservatives on the gay marriage:

2015 - Donald Trump is “for traditional marriage” (CNN interview)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0hIiF2Hbfw

2016 - Trump hopes for reversal on same-sex-marriage

https://www.politico.com/story/2016/01/donald-trump-iowa-caucuses-marriage-218471

THEN, IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING ELECTED, HE FLIP FLOPPED:

GOP President-Elect Donald Trump Says Same-Sex Marriage Is ‘Settled’ Law

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/gop-president-elect-donald-trump-sex-marriage-settled/story?id=43513067

THEN, the very night the new gay marriage law passed, Trump hosted a gala event at his resort to celebrate:

Scenes from a celebration of the same-sex marriage law — at Mar-a-Lago

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/16/celebration-same-sex-marriage-mar-a-lago-00074441

Trump is big buddies now with Bruce Jenner, who is apparently a regular now at the resort. Trump says his very favorite song to play is YMCA which he refers to as “the gay national anthem”:

Trump Explains His Love of ‘Y.M.C.A.,’ Which He Claims Is the ‘Gay National Anthem’

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2022/03/donald-trump-loves-ymca-gay-national-anthem.html

Now, like most every other Trump supporter, you’ll claim/admit you really don’t see gay marriage as an actual issue, after all.

I’d like to see that promise of a wall across 2000 miles. That would be a trick with the natural features of parts of the border. You take it as given that Abbots floating barrels are going to be effective? I don’t. And it is a big lie that Trump didn’t negotiate to get the wall done, one that only someone who was born yesterday would believe.

He also said he would supply Zelenskyy with more weapons. How does that get him to the negotiating table?

It’s called “Monday morning quarterbacking.” It’s especially prevalent among ppl who’ve never actually played the game other than Madden Football on X Box, which doesn’t count.

OK. We can both be suspicious. I would not vote for DeSantis. Period. He is a trojan horse rolled out to allow another betrayal.
I will vote for Donald Trump. I do not need to pick from the riff raff at this point. If heaven forfend Trump cannot serve there will be a crisis and we will have the opportunity to see who rises to the top under pressure. At that point and with that additional information I will make the choice I believe best serves America. It will not be DeSantis.

I find it suspicious that people will give you an answer to such a serious question as a hypothetical. I can only see answering if there is someone else that person believes is a good candidate. IMO there is no one I would trust with that awesome responsibility at this point but Trump.

Yeah. You tell’em.
The left did so well under Trump that they had to indite him, impeach him 2x, steal the election and fight tooth and nail to avoid a second term in 2024. If they did so well why not welcome him back?
Maybe just for insight you should look at what was accomplished in Trump’s term and how quickly the left moved to reclaim ground after they installed Biden.

You sir, are no conservative, no matter what you put as a tagline.

Obvious slander and projection. I supported Trump on here for years, until he started exposing himself as a closeted liberal in 2020, then especially in 2022. It should be no surprise, he has spent the majority of his life as a Democrat, running with Epstein and the Clinton types, and now the mask has come off with all his big government spending bills, buddying up with communist dictators, free college and rent orders, gun control orders, and support for the WEF agenda (look it up). All the talk about the border just caused a mad rush as soon as Biden got in.

His Disney war was a head fake to establish “conservative” creds so he can get into office and do the sacred work of the Ryan/Bush/McConnell/McCarty wing.

* * * *

Some sharp analysis there, DesertRhino. I think you're right.

And it doesn't make much sense on a personal level either since Ronnie and Casey had their wedding party at Disneyland a few years back.

But valuing past partnerships don't seem to be Ronnie's thing.

Actually, De Snake Hiss showed his true colors at a Florida Trump rally a few years back...

I like many realize Trump clearly hasn't won a single fight in years now. He's all talk, no action, anymore. Time to bet on a new horse. This old one needs to be put out to pasture, he's just as likely to throw you or kick you than run a good race.

Jim, are you seeing this?

Interesting.

He's MAGA, which is my requirement.

What I don't want is somebody who comes out of a donor meeting in the Hamptons and then starts lying about the progress on the wall.
