DeSantis says Trump not only didn’t fulfill major promise, it got worse
Fox News ^ | 7/16/23 | Jessica Chasmar

Republican presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis rattled off a list of what he deemed to be broken 2016 campaign promises by former President Donald Trump, saying he’d rather attack the GOP front-runner on the issues than personality.

"Substantively, we've been very frank about our differences with respect to the former president," the Florida governor said. "I mean, for example, he promised to drain the swamp – it got worse. He did not drain the swamp.

"He promised to have Mexico pay for a border wall. They did like 50 miles of wall. There's massive expanses still there," he continued. "He said he was going to eliminate the national debt. They added almost $8 trillion to the debt in four years.

"And of course, in 2020, he turned the country over to Dr. [Anthony] Fauci, and those lockdowns and the borrowing and printing really set us on a bad course," he added. "I've been very, very frank at that."

DeSantis May very well blow his chances for ‘28.

He directed Mike Pence to be in charge of the whole COVID response, and with Mike’s trusting, stupid thinking, put Fauci and Birx in charge.

I was a part of prison ministry, and I still communicate with a former inmate, to this day.

He’s a brother in Christ, now.

“Look at the numbers, there’s only about 50 miles of new wall, the rest was refurbishing old.”

Okay, genius, can you explain why the engneers woould want to build a new wall to replace one that was entirely satisfactory and doing the job?

In case you don’t know, the walls that were replaced were only markers that informed the illegals when they entered the United States.

You are a child

Yet you can't muster a response to any of the actual criticisms I've posted, other than sling insults and demand compliance.

For what, a guy who didn't even try to lock her up, didn't even try to have Mexico pay for the wall, didn't even really try to fight the deep state, and passed executive orders that instituted gun control measures, gave out free rent, gave out free college loans, tore down all regulations for vaccine definition and safety, and let the election be stolen without even trying to prove his legal case after he had the necessary legal standing.

Now he wants me to accept gay marriage and live in a 15 minute city bombarded with 5G! Forget it. You go along but I'm sure not.

“ He fails to understand that Trump had to spend half his time in office fighting the Russian hoax bullshit.”

No, he didn’t “have to”. He could have kept Mike Flynn, fired Rod Rosenstein, refused to appoint Robert Mueller or could have fired him the minute Andrew Weissman’s name came up.

He could have appointed Kris Kobach Secretary of Homeland Security, and when McConnell refused to confirm him, could have shut down the Department until he got his way.

He could have ordered Jeff Sessions to prosecute Hillary Clinton for espionage.

I am voting for Trump in the NH primary, no matter what. But all these excuses for why he failed to exercise his rightful powers which WE fought like hell to give him, because the GOP moved to prevent him from exercising the powers of his office is pathetic - because the same GOP is going to be in DC waiting for him, and you need to explain why this time will be different.

Trump built hundreds of miles of wall much of it in key areas. Some of the wall was built in areas that officially already had barriers but many of the existing barriers were useless and easily penetrated.

Of course, Trump did dramatically cut back on illegal immigration which is the whole point. He implemented many new and effective policies to help secure the border. It worked. The end. Trump 2024.

I voted for Trump on the promise of building a wall on the entire 2000 mile border. We got less than 500 miles of new and rebuilt the wall. That is a failure. Some claim that you couldn’t secure some of the border. Look at what Abbott is doing in Texas, he’s securing the river border. And the most important thing that Trump had to do in his first term, he failed. He didn’t negotiate to get it done, and now we have Biden running an open border because of that failure.

Trump did notleave the border open. Are you really that stupid or just being an asshole?

McCain does not deserve your forbearance. He was a nasty biter vindictive small man his whole career. Trump did not insult McCain. He told the truth. The truth is not an insult.

It is very interesting that you blame Trump when Raffensberger was covering up malfeasance, taping and doctoring a phone call illegally and leaking lies to the press.
What does it say about Kemp that he “looked the other way”? It says to me that Kemp must be dirty too and that Trump had spoken to Kemp and knew that the only chance was to call him out publicly, to put on the heat. Without knowledge of actual events and circumstances it is very arrogant to portray that you know better than Trump and if he had done things different you know what the outcome would have been.

>>Our sloth and indolence allowed things to get this bad, not Trump. He stepped up to the plate, took the fight to the deep state. We allowed the election to be stolen because we were asleep at the wheel for decades while evil flourished and insinuated itself deep into America’s institutions.

Hear, hear. Well worth repeating.

Read what I wrote. But not finishing the border, it made it easy for Biden to re-open the border. Re-open!

Again, as with so many Trump followers, nothing is ever his fault: it’s the Deep State, it’s Pelosi and McConnell, it’s the GOPe, it’s the MSM, it’s everybody’s fault but the guy who said he would drain the swamp, build the wall and make Mexico pay for it, etc.

Trump promised and didn’t deliver, and why is really immaterial. Because none of the forces arrayed against Trump have gone anywhere, which is why he will never be President, and if he by some miracle does manage to win, he’ll be foiled again at every turn again. If he’s not in jail, that is.

Currently he and his endorsed leader of the party, Ronna McUseless, are talking a big game about absentee ballots, beating the Dems at their own game, etc., but I can find exactly no details on what they’re actually planning to do, and the vote is next year. Again, big talk, no action, another loss waiting in the wings. Pathetic.

And why was McCain so petulant and pissy that he voted that way? Trump had insulted him publicly about his military service, and he was getting payback.

That is a very big assumption.

We have lost the understanding of the ways of a warrior. A man who will stand up to things. None of us like conflict, not even warriors, But it is something that NEEDS TO BE DONE.

I would encourage you to print the following out, read it often and let your lips move. Why do I say that? Because reading it out loud, slows your thinking down enough to get the full flavor.

http://learntocarry.com/files/On-Sheep-Wolves-And-Sheepdogs.pdf

We need more warriors, we need to understand warriors.

What is the difference between a sheep dog and a wolf? They look and act the same to the sheep.

I think Trump has shown us his heart. Look past the media.

MAGA

Re: "Frankly, I find it suspicious that such a question should be asked."

Frankly, I find it suspicious that 5 out of the 6 people who answered my "Second Choice" question did NOT name a second choice.

Five anti-Conservative trolls, perhaps?

One person answered Vivek Ramaswamy, who would be my second choice.

However, I am not sure Vivek has the necessary life and political experience to win a national election as a Republican on his first try.

I would also support DeSantis - as my 2.5 choice.

That’s 500 miles more than what DeSantis or any other Republican ever promised to build, prior to Trump making it an issue. But that wasn’t good enough for you, so you’re going with the guy who needed Trump to talk about it before it became important to him. Got it.

I know all about Songbird, and not just from news articles. I was a Navy officer, too. I didn’t give McCain a pass.

I also don’t give any of the culprits in GA a pass. My point, which I made clearly for those willing to see, was that Kemp, another small man who couldn’t forgive a public upbraiding from Trump, would likely have been a lot more amenable to helping Trump stop the steal if Trump hadn’t been a gold-plated azzhole to him.

Leadership 101—praise in public, chastise in private. To do otherwise is to invite future problems. Trump still reasons like a child and is emotionally incontinent. If he thinks it, he’s got to say it. It is his fatal flaw, he still hasn’t learned any better, and it will come back to bite him again.
