‘No corner of the global economy will be spared’: How America’s first-ever default would tank the entire world
Fortune ^ | 05/22/2023 | BY PAUL WISEMAN AND THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

If the debt crisis roiling Washington were eventually to send the United States crashing into recession, America’s economy would hardly sink alone.

The repercussions of a first-ever default on the federal debt would quickly reverberate around the world. Orders for Chinese factories that sell electronics to the United States could dry up. Swiss investors who own U.S. Treasurys would suffer losses. Sri Lankan companies could no longer deploy dollars as an alternative to their own dodgy currency.

It’s on your watch, Democrats. Don’t try to blame Trump.

People are so gullible.

Hitting the debt ceiling does not run the US government out of money. They still have incoming funds, No problem making the interest payments(With lots left over) unless they deliberately choose not to pay it.

Yup. The fedgov takes in roughly 3 times the amount needed to cover the interest a month.

What ever is left will have to be prioritized to constitutionally requirements and the rest returned to tax payers.

The US can not and will never default on its’ debt. It may run out of money for congressional spending, but the debt payments will always be made in a timely manner.

Spending other people’s money is more addictive than heroin. And there is no cure. Over spending is never going to stop.

Either cut spending drastically right now, or just default. No more. Stop.

“What we desperately need in the good old USA is a tax payer strike...”

AMEN to THAT! Been advocating for that since my very FIRST paycheck in 1975 when I realized that a good 1/3 of it went to TAXES of all kinds!

I educated myself as a TEEN and only worked enough hours up until I HAD to pay taxes. My Dad was very proud that I figured that out so early in life.

And he was a Union Guy back when Unions actually PROTECTED workers and their incomes, versus being a money conduit for the DNC!

I didn’t know this either, but on the day the Japanese bomb Pearl, we only had a total of 330,000 serving in the military. There were 12 million on VJ Day. Most were volunteers!!!! You think we’d get that many now days? I don’t. Even with a draft.

I am a veteran. My dad was a veteran - lifer. My brother-in-law, sister, uncles, and many cousins are veterans.

I DO NOT want my kids to serve. I don’t regret my service, but I don’t trust the neocon globalists of either party to put the interests of my children and yours first over their Ivy-league fantasies and lobbyists.

The War Lobby in the US owns our government. Why should my kids go to die in some foreign land for some critical goal brought to you by the same people who told you that a cloth masks would stop a virus?

When you serve you have no control over where the idiots send you or why they send you there. Hell, we have politicians that openly talk about using the military against their political opponents.

No thanks.

IF we hit a default, they will stop payments to the most emotional issues. EBT cards will go blank. Obama’s relatives will riot causing a big crisis. Fedzilla will come in to solve the crisis.

“never let a crisis go to waste...”
