EPA has a new climate fund. Who should control the money?
E&E News ^ | December 6, 2022 | By Avery Ellfeldt

A $27 billion EPA fund meant to curb planet-warming emissions should be used to support climate projects in disadvantaged areas — and use an existing network of financiers to do so, say community development advocates and green groups.

At issue is the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a key provision of the Inflation Reduction Act that aims to leverage federal dollars to provide communities across the country with low-cost, flexible financing for clean energy projects.

The EPA-administered program will work by granting billions of dollars to nonprofit organizations, who then will dole out the money to local lenders that specialize in green financing and community development lending.

The public comment period on the program ended Monday. A range of groups offered opinions on a diverse set of issues, including how the financing should be structured, what types of projects should be prioritized, as well as how — and through whom — the money should flow.

Notably, the White House announced Monday that Jahi Wise, who currently serves as a special assistant to President Joe Biden for climate policy and finance, will head the fund. Wise previously directed policy at the Coalition for Green Capital.

Others disagree. Community development experts, credit union trade groups and environmental organizations say it would be a mistake to pump $20 billion into a potentially new Washington, D.C.-based entity with no proven track record — or historic ties to the communities that need the funding most.

The GOP better figure out a way to defund these Solyndra slush funds or it’s over.

Ukraine and China, obviously. After all, they own us now anyway. Until the Great Reset elimination of the left.

Not even a chance of corruption.

Jahi Wise. There’s your reparations. Of the $27 billion, 90% of it will be laundered into a slush fund.

African dictators are pikers compared to these Washington D.C. grifters.

The community activists and green groups are right: there is already a system in place. To wit:

Set up an environmental nonprofit organization.

Funnel taxpayer monies to it in the form of grants.

Announce government intent to pass a law, remove a regulation or grant a permit in a sop to conservatives.

Taxpayer-funded nonprofit instigates law fare to stop the sop.

Government enters consent decree to stop the sop and award costs and attorney fees to nonprofit.

Announce fed disappointment that it cannot take the proposed action.

Privately high-five liberals for frustrating conservatives while laundering taxpayer funds and doing absolutely nothing for the environment..

Accept political donations from the nonprofit.

Rinse and repeat.

A slush fund for the far-left will really do wonders for inflation, huh?

When are we going to demand the GOP address the insane spending? This is OUR money. We continue to go into debt yet have money for all leftist causes and giveaways to other countries.

I get tired of “outside SS and defense” everything else is peanuts. Really? Not when it is $20B here and $20B there, constantly, while our debt just continues toward craziness.

Nobody in D.C. are responsible guardians of our tax dollars.

Actually, that’s not it. The money will go to NGO’s that give lots of money to democrats. They will be encouraged to increase the vig. It will probably also subsidize vote fraud in 2024.

The GOP-e couldn’t figure out Solyndra and that was easy.
The slush fund the EPA and UN is going to run is going to make Solyndra look like a broken Gum Ball Machine.
All they need to do is throw 100k at Turtle and their problem is solved.

Demonstrating how the $27 billion fund is a political slush fund to zillions of climate alarmist activist non-profits as the “gate keepers” and true benefactors of the funds.
