DeSantis brushes off Trump attacks: ‘All that’s just noise’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) brushed off attacks from former President Trump while taking questions at a high school on Tuesday, saying the criticism he has received from the former president is “just noise.”

“I think what you learn is, all that’s just noise, and really what matters is, are you leading, are you getting in front of issues, are you delivering results for people and are you standing up for folks?” he said. “And if you do that, then none of that stuff matters.”

DeSantis said at Fort Walton Beach High School, located on the Florida Panhandle, that he is focused on “results and leadership” and pointed to his overwhelming success in his reelection bid.

He defeated Democrat Charlie Crist by almost 20 points, and Republicans up and down the ballot in Florida won key races, leading to supermajorities in the state legislature.

“One of the things I’ve learned in this job: When you’re leading and getting things done, you take incoming fire. That’s just the nature of it,” DeSantis said.

But the schoolyard antics is a little old and we couldn’t even get independent voters in the midterm.

I don't find it old. It is how Trump has been for decades before the Presidency - and was elected - and during his presidency - and he got +70 million votes.

But if we don't get a handle on fraud, it doesn't matter who runs... or how many votes were cast.

Yup. After the joke of this election, I’ve written off the great experiment called The United State of America. We’re finished and no one sees it.

Bush was very wise and Presidential ... he behaved wise and Presidential in front of cameras his entire second term. How did that work out for you?

Be aware that DeSantis will HAVE to take help from Karl Rove, the Bush Family, and the rest of the neocons out there that are mostly responsible for the state of this country should Desantis want to run in 2024.

If DeSantis would wait until 2026, he wouldn’t owe anyone anything.

If Desantis runs and wins in 2024, expect another W Bush Presidency. It’ll be the same “roll over and die” kind of Presidency brought to you by other elite Republican scumbag losers like George HW Bush and Gerald Ford.

Bottom line, you can’t be a statesman when you are fighting wild animals. The liberals can act all stately since they own the media ... the media does the dirty work for them. We don’t have such luxuries, so when we own the bully pulpit, we need to make effective use of it.

I’ll even go so far to say that if Reagan were around today and was playing the role Donald Trump currently holds, even he’d be attacking liberal idiots with less winks and smiles and more outright attacks. It is *that* bad these days.

“The problem is that President Trump is doing a good enough job dividing Republicans all by himself—with his own words.”

So I guess Trump should have just lied back and take the criticism from the media the other night? He should have let all of those RINOs destroy him just because they were fawning over DeSantis and were crucifying Trump at the same time?

Exactly how would keeping his mouth shut been a good thing?

Keep in mind most of the mainstream GOP was behind that Trump attack on election night ... how in the hell is this all Trump’s fault? How is he splitting the party by defending himself and setting the record straight on the rise of Ron? Is he “bad orange man” for fighting back???

Using that awesome Rove/Bush “keep your mouth shut” ‘strategery’ they employed from 2005 onward all but handed the House, Senate, and WH (along with Colorado, New Mexico, and Virginia) to the Rats (while the Rats were being led by a Kenyan mind you) ... W Bush set conservatism BACK ... he did nothing to advance it ... and Rove was the advisor that let that happen.

Of course, the GOPe cozying up with RINOs didn’t stop there ... in 2008, John McCain (a campaign managed by people who DESPISE Trump) claimed that “there is nothing to fear about an Obama Presidency” about 4 weeks before he lost. Is that more of the same kind of GOP strategy we should be employing these days? Supporting the Rats? Being good statesmen when deranged psychopaths are attempting to take over is the proper way to proceed?

Or, how about the awesome Mitt Romney ... a man that is an incredible and viscous campaigner ... only when he’s campaigning against Republicans (especially “non-severe” conservatives, unlike him who claimed he was a “severe conservative with binders full of women).

However, when he campaigned against Obama, he basically did his job in one debate, then decided to check out since he did too well making America’s sweetheart, poor Kenyan prince look like a doddering retard. He basically gave Obama a month to recover from that disaster (Romney did nothing all while Benghazi was going on). Again, another milquetoast GOP candidate brought to you by the right wing media talking heads and campaign managers.

So, that’s a Presidency and two Presidential campaigns run by the *exact* same people that are approaching Ron DeSantis to run in 2024. These are the same people that are all excited about various Rs in the Senate defecting to pass “codified gay marriage”. Is this the mindset you want running Ron DeSantis’ campaign? What in the hell makes you think this time will be different? Are they just gonna tell Ron “Sure, run on the MAGA platform ... we want to see those ideas succede”?

Finally, do you think Ron DeSantis has enough in him to tell Rove and Company to drop dead? If Desantis is the conservative we think he is, there is no way he’d put up with these asses for any considerable period of time. Does he have enough of a machine to stay afloat if the GOPe abandons him? Moreover, does he have the skills to heal the party should he defeat Trump?

Is it fraud really? I think people are voting more.

in 2016, we got the independent voters. we really needed them in 2020, but independent voters didn’t vote Republican enough. in 2022, They were practically missing completely.

We just need to get people to vote mail in, early, day of whatever.

but more importantly, we need to stop the stupidity of the Lindsey Graham let’s have a federal ban on abortion bill, or Rick Scott and his let’s stop Social Security and Medicare a month before the election. Those two things are enough to scare everybody. Roe versus Wade was abolished so that states could deal with it not the federal government. Idiots!

Bush was very wise and Presidential

Kinda lost me right there, my good FRiend.

And, to your other points, if the Never Trumpers support someone that I support, that does not mean that he supports them. And, it does not mean that he owes anybody.

Actually, I'm pretty certain that DJT will not get the GOP nom, and it will be mostly on DJT. He'll say his cringeworthy things, and have us searching for options.

I also suspect that DeSantis has a much better chance of winning the general, as many of the GOPers that I know (including my DW) have said that they've had it with Trump.

As unfair and unenlightened as it seems, major elections are won and lost on optics. Appearance, scary behavior (thus trust), age, and other visual and visceral attributes will sway superficial voters. DJT can't compete with youth, vigor, and superficial perceptions.

All that said, we're really talking about the primaries and the nom; and, if DJT wins the GOP nom, I'll vote for and support him.

Yep, narcissists can’t stand to be brushed off. Look for Trump to nurse the narcissistic injury this response will no doubt cause by lashing out with another over-the-top, unprovoked attack. He’ll probably remind us how DeSantis needs to give him a smooch on his backside and hold a press conference declaring to the world how sweet it is.

Have you ever mentored someone?

If you have you know that you would support them, wish them well, and be the first to congratulate them when they have great success.

When someone fails to do that—and instead attacks their student in public on the student’s great night of victory—that person is dead to me.

There are no excuses and no explanations that cut it for that type of horrible behavior.

Trump announced he is running for president.
He should focus on the democrats and rinos in his statements and what he will do in helping the country like lower taxes etc. He nees to start by firing any democrat he can. He has to be liek Elon Musk at Twitter.

DeSantis is a distraction he does not need but the democrats want. It is a trap.
