Former President Donald Trump criticized Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida Thursday in a statement posted on Truth Social, calling him an “average” governor who was “politically dead” and in “desperate shape” before Trump endorsed him in 2017.
“Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win,” Trump said in the statement. DeSantis defeated Adam Putman, the Republican Agriculture Commissioner, in the 2018 Republican primary for governor by 20%, according to Ballotpedia.

Trump is playing a very dangerous and stupid game. It worked for him in 2016 when he and Ted Cruz were friendly competitors. But then Trump turned nasty and vicious and attacked Ted Cruz and his family.
While that that might’ve worked in 2016, it’s not going to work now. Ron DeSantis is no Ted Cruz.

In 2016, he berated any opposition to his presidential candidacy because none in the ring supported him. Today, Cruz and Desantis have receipts to prove they supported him in office. Trashing his supporters is not a good thing. Time for him to act like he’s been there.
Even if every single thing he’s saying is correct- and it’s not even close to reality - can’t he just keep his mouth shut for a month? The next 4 weeks the dems will saturate the airwaves with Walker / Trump attack ads. The runoff will be about Trump, instead of Georgia or the Senate.
He will cost us a third GA senate seat.
