76 child sacrifice victims with their hearts ripped out found in Peru excavation

The remains of dozens of child sacrifice victims have been unearthed in Peru, and many more are likely waiting to be found, archaeologists say.

The skeletons show evidence that the children's hearts were removed, said Gabriel Prieto, an assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Florida who directs the excavations at Pampa La Cruz, the site near Huanchaco where the remains were found.

All 76 skeletons had a "transversal clean cut across the sternum," Prieto said, which suggests that "they possibly opened up the rib cage and then they possibly extracted the heart."

Ancient Aliens usually quickly skipped across that aspect but did have at least one which showed and described a long stone trench which they said allowed a small river of human blood to flow downward for yards, filled during human sacrifice ceremonies which were frequent. The show was honest at least those times.

Funny during the many years of the episodes, the “aliens” word came into controversy about people illegally crossing the borders. They switched to saying “extraterrestrials” but that word was a tongue twister for the affable wild haired Georgio Tsoukalos who struggled with “estertriestables” or “estrtyessables” or something.

And the British ended the Hindu practice of suttee (immolating a widow on the husband’s funeral pyre) among the Indians of Asia.

One of the British governors, Charles Napier, had this to say when the Indians pushed back on laws ending this sacred custom.

“Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs!”

“Why does a science magazine have to have a sensationalist headline? “

This was in the Compton’s encyclopedia my parents had when I was a kiddie, including pictures. We kiddies would go to the article to see the pictures. Don’t remember the subject of the article.

Meanwhile in North America..See how the tribes treated each other living in peace, only doing the Happy dance till the evil White Man showed up...By the way... Isn’t this Columbus Day, in which the “Indigenous people are trying to hijack as their own?

My family had the Compton’s encyclopedia too. I mostly looked up the Presidents back then. We still have the World Book Encyclopedias that my in-laws bought back in the early 1960’s.

Cheers!

"This is fascinating as the Chimu were previously not known for human sacrifice."

Just because they made a bunch of gold ceremonial knives is no reason to jump to any conclusions.

Note the Archeologist comments......"These females do not show evidence of violent treatment...."

Well...repectfully killed. Archeological Stockholm syndrome.....

My thought is that they with held food from the victims for a few days and fed them with something that had a poison that killed them. Deadly Amanita mushrooms perhaps. There is a bean or seed found in holding rooms in central American pyramids which may have been feed to sacrifice victims that paralyzed them so that they did not thrash around while they were murdered. Could have been something like that.

(I thought hemlock, but it did not come to the Americas until the Europeans arrived. )

A grim subject. (Oh, Joseph Campbell would find something about it uplifting!)

Off to get some sunlight and fresh air!
