HARRISBURG — State Rep. Dan Frankel has become the latest target of antisemitic threats on the same social media platform used by the man who is charged with the murder of 11 Jews in 2018 at the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill — the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history.
Mr. Frankel, D-Squirrel Hill, has become the subject of threats and derogatory comments on Gab. Gab is widely viewed as a platform used by white nationalists and other far-right extremists. The suspect in the 2018 Tree of Life attack used the site to post neo-Nazi propaganda and to call for violence against Jews.
The threats against Mr. Frankel, first reported by the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, began to surface on Gab after Mr. Frankel participated in several press conferences last month to criticize state Sen. Doug Mastriano’s usage of the platform as part of his campaign for governor. A member of Mr. Frankel’s staff discovered the posts recently as part of a search of the site, Mr. Frankel said.
“I’m certainly not unique,” Mr. Frankel said. “Clearly, this website has been a platform for spreading hatred, particularly antisemitism, for years.”
Mr. Mastriano received criticism last month for his campaign’s payment of $5,000 to Gab for “consulting fees,” according to campaign finance records. As part of this payment, all new accounts on the platform would automatically follow Mr. Mastriano. Mr. Mastriano is the GOP gubernatorial nominee. His Democratic opponent is state Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish.
Following weeks of criticism, Mr. Mastriano quietly closed his Gab account and said he rejected “anti-Semitism in any form,” according to his July 28 statement.

OK, he gets antisemitic threats, and yet he smears all people on Gab (including me) as embracing the antisemitic ideology of some 22-chromosome idiots who also use the platform. So pots and kettles and all that.
Pot meet kettle
I suggest Facebook and Twitter spread more “hate” than Gab. I have never been on Gab, AFAIK, but Twitter and Facebook are full of nasty, raging leftists.
The ADL and SPLC are far more racist towards whites than whites are to other races.
Some of what is going on is trying to tie Mastriano to “white supremacists,” and to help Josh Shapiro, his opponent.
Is GAB pushing CRT?
I rest my case.
Our public schools exhibit more racism than those on GAB
do.
Are we going to close them down? I’m curious.
Those people are named Legion, for they are many ...
I’ve mentioned before here how awful Gab is towards jews, which is why I quit there and like it here at free republic.
Alinsky.
I haven’t noticed that, but maybe I’m not looking hard enough. I’ve certainly seen more Jew hating in the comment sections of Breitbart articles, but I don’t regard that as an anti-Semitic site.
Twitter in particular tolerates extreme and vicious comments, so long as they’re made against Republicans.
Still, advertising on Gab was an unforced error on the part of Mastriano. Other strong MAGA Republicans won’t touch Gab, including Trump himself. IMHO they have good reason for doing so.
Thanks for the mention. I haven’t gone there.
Antisemitism is a big tip-off to me.
When people start spouting that stuff, I know they aren’t
my ally.
I don’t think Israel is always right. We’ve had skirmishes
with them, and I think you probably know about it. I never
as able to explain away that completely for myself, but
overall Israel is our only secure ally in that region.
Jews are not evil. They are still God’s chosen people,
and I personally think any nation that goes up against
Israel is going up against a higher power.
Pennsylvania Ping!

FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Andrew Breitbart was himself Jewish. The current CEO, Larry Solov, is Jewish. The Senior Editor, Joel Pollack, is Jewish. The Breitbart mission statement is explicitly Zionist.
Thus it’s more difficult to blame Breitbart for anti-Semitic bigotry, regardless of some of the posts in the comments section.
Yes, indeed.
Jews have the best teflon available.
Yeah, that’s probably true.

So... Mr. Frankel threw the first sucker punch and is now screaming like a little girl? Way to go PPPG!
I bet plenty of bad criminals also used THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM!
And THE INTERNET!
They must be shut down!
Meh. Use the mute function. A dozen or two mutes and that nonsense is mostly gone.
What remains is a true free speech platform.
