Anne Heche won't spend 'any significant time' in jail for fiery crash, expert says

Anne Heche likely won't spend "any significant time" in jail after she crashed her car into a home in Los Angeles on Friday.

Heche, 53, will most likely be charged with hit-and-run along with reckless driving, a legal expert told Fox News Digital. Former U.S. Attorney Neama Rahmani explained the actress would only receive misdemeanor charges since she didn't cause any bodily injuries to anyone involved in the crashes.

The actress crashed her Mini Cooper twice on Friday, with the second crash igniting a fire that left a home destroyed in the Mar Vista neighborhood. Heche suffered burn injuries, but was "conscious and breathing" when paramedics removed her from the vehicle.

Heche could receive up to six months in jail for the hit-and-run charge alone, with up to 90 days for the reckless driving charge, Rahmani told Fox News Digital.

Attorney Arie Shamuilian of My Rights Law Group told Fox News Digital it's likely that Heche will spend time in jail for the crash.

"In this case, there's other video depicting her vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and crashing into the building," Shamuilian explained. "I anticipate there could potentially be custody time with this case, given the circumstantial evidence shows her level of recklessness was pretty high here."

If a toxicology report were to confirm Heche had been driving under the influence, she could be charged with a misdemeanor DUI. For that charge, Rahmani explained, the actress could be punished with up to six months in jail.

That is the son that was the center of a long custody battle with the ex claiming Heche and her partner were showering with the child.

I feel sorry for Heche. I dont think she ever really stood a chance at overcoming her childhood demons caused by a demented father (assuming that story is even true)

Will the people whose house she burned up spend time in jail?

That depends on their voter registration.

“Will the people whose house she burned up spend time in jail?”

Have they apologized yet?

White celebrity Lesbian priviledge. Well, supposedly lesbian. I’m sure her drivers license won’t even be revoked.

The #LosAngeles District Attorney is charging Nicole Linton with 6 counts of murder and vehicular manslaughter.
@LADAOffice
says Linton was driving the car that caused last week’s Windsor Hills intersection disaster. If convicted as charged she faces 90 years in prison.

Nobody goes to jail for property offenses (I’ve heard nothing to indicate she broke any laws yet). Especially people with no prior record. I’ve locked up people for robberies with a weapon and saw them on the street the next day waiting for their next court date. You sound like someone who’s very out of touch with the current criminal justice system. This is a civil matter.

I think CA has some kind of misdemeanor law for open alcohol in the car..and she was certainly speeding..and may have been driving while impaired.

But since no one was hurt she isnt going to face the same fate as the Nurse (the DA is saying doesn’t appear she was drunk) who now faces life in prison. I guess they must have some kind of proof now that the car didnt malfunction.

With the burns she received she will spend a significant time in what will feel like hell and she will have a very interesting looking body afterwards.

Burn scars are the WORST. They tend to be FOREVER!

As with most articles, this one is filled with "could" and "might" quoted by a lawyer who has no connection to the case.

Let's say she is charged with leaving the scene and reckless driving and even DUI. She will do zero jail time except when she is processed. She will make bail, pay the victim, and the case will go away. Maybe she will do some community service or make a PSA.

There are people who commit violent felonies who never see the inside of an actual prison cell. Not sure why anyone would think a millionaire celebrity who didn't hurt anyone will do any time.
