Poll: Red wave not likely to wash up on WA shores
Crosscut ^ | July 19, 2022 | by Joseph O'Sullivan

Ared wave that some had forecast for Washington’s midterm elections might turn out looking more like a ripple, according to a new Crosscut/Elway poll.

Key points:

1. The statewide poll of registered voters has Democrats holding a 19-point lead – 51 to 32 – in the generic ballot for Congress. A similar question for the Legislature showed 54% of those polled planned to vote for Democrats while 34% favored Republicans.

2. Those numbers show Democrats are even more popular in Washington state than they were before the previous congressional election in 2020, according to the results of a similar Crosscut/Elway poll fielded in late December 2019.

3. The poll also showed 53% support for reelecting legendary U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (left), D-Washington, with 33% supporting GOP challenger Tiffany Smiley (right) and 15% undecided.

4. Overall, 66% of those polled are confident in Washington’s mail-voting system, with 52% “very confident.”

5. The July poll gives voice to a sour mood, with Biden drawing only a 31% favorable rating. Inslee hovered near his lowest-ever favorable rating, with 40% rating the governor “good” or “excellent.”

The recent Crosscut/Elway Poll was conducted between July 7 and July 11, with a mix of landline, cell phone and online survey questions. It has a 4.5% margin of error at the 95% confidence level. In other words, if the survey had been run 100 times, the results would be within 4.5 percentage points of these results in at least 95 of those scenarios.

If ever there was an election cycle when Patty (I’m the Stupidest Senator) Murray should be shown the door, it’s this one.

It would take a massive education campaign to try to turn that ship around and probably take multiple election cycles and many millions of dollars. Democrats have had long term projects like that to flip states like Virginia and Georgia - they have quietly worked decades to do so - Texas is another one they have been working on but most of the new arrivals are keeping it red and the trend of some Hispanic communities away from them as well. We don’t have a Soros on our side to fund these efforts for the long haul in currently blue states.

I have a conservative friend living in Olympia, he won’t drive into Seattle unless it’s to the airport.

Are there 10 million conservatives who could contribute at least a buck to the GOP candidate to make it interesting? Sure. In fact many more than that who could give $5 per GOP nominee for Senate in every race. Do we have such an organized effort to make this happen? Unfortunately, no. The Left does, however. They’ve got the art of the “money bomb” down pat. They raised and wasted tens of millions of dollars on a very poor candidate in Amy McGrath for Senate in Kentucky in 2020 who did not even get 40% of the vote. It isn’t the only place. It still amazes - and frustrates - me that the right has not organized a similar money bomb apparatus.

Everyone in Washington should check the signatures that the secretary of state has on file. It should match you drivers license.

If manual re-count tallying and looking at signatures that don’t match close enough.... your vote can be dumped....somebody decides.

I live in Washington. I also manage a self storage and rent uhauls. It’s been a mass exodus since 2020. Many friends have also left the state. If my husband wasn’t just over 2 years away from a nice pension, we would also be looking hard at leaving. Gotta tough it out a couple more years before deciding. I love the beauty of this state, but hate the politics and the ultra lib idiots.

John C. Calhoun for starters.

If one looks to the North-West, Slade Gordon was worth remembering, nearly as good as Wayne Morse—but this trip down memory lane deserves to stop with Joseph Lane, one of Oregon’s first two Senators, VP on one of the Dem tickets of 1860, and the one honoured by Lane County, home of the University of Oregon.

That is a legend that deserves to be revelled in.

Although Maisy Hirono and Ed Markey are right up there...

I guess legendarily stupid.

Stupid is as stupid does. Unfortunately, some people never learn and keep voting in leftists while their communities turn into something out of Mad Max.

Case in point Minneapolis has been under exclusive control of the DFL (Democrat leftists) for 40 years. Despite large areas of the city including a police station being burned to the ground in riots, murder rates skyrocketing, an epidemic of car jackings, police leaving the force in droves and parts of the city rapidly becoming third world dung heaps. The same feckless city leaders were reelected and things will just get worse.
