Supply Chain Woes Create Popcorn Shortage for Movie Theaters Looking for Summer Rebound

It's a must-order when you go to the movies — but now some theaters are seeing a popcorn shortage just as the summer blockbuster season starts.

As "Top Gun: Maverick" shattered Memorial Day Weekend box office records, more and more people are returning to movie theaters, some for the first time since before the pandemic. But moviegoers may be missing a beloved staple thanks to supply chain problems.

The same issue that has impacted cars and furniture for about two years is now hurting supplies at movie theater concession stands.

"For a certain time a few months ago, it was difficult to get the canola oil for the popcorn and it wasn’t because they didn’t have enough oil. It’s because they didn’t have the glue to enclose the box that the oil bib goes in," said Ryan Wenke, the director of operations and technology at Prospector Theater in Ridgefield, Connecticut

It's Jimmy Carter all over again, only it's worse.

Speaking of Jimmy Carter, there’s a peanut butter shortage too.

First world problems. You mean I can’t pay $11 for a bucket of popcorn at the movies?

Crap. My therapist is going to hear about this.

Jeez. Stop using canola oil then. coconut oil is better. The liberal claims that is was harmful were lies. Liberals always lie. About everything. They lie even when they would be better off telling the truth.

No damn reason in the world that you can’t bring in your own candy and popcorn. It’s soooo unfair. The price of the movie is bad enough. Not exactly Broadway.

“coconut oil is better”

and makes WAY tastier popcorn than any other oil, too!

Popcorn is actually nutritious. It’s the lousy fats people often pop it in that can be harmful.

This seems funny, but concessions are what pays the bills and makes movie houses profitable. No more popcorn might mean more closed theaters.

Which is fine with liberals. After all, in movie houses people are actually seen having actual fun. Progressives hate that. You are supposed to be constantly outraged by racism and capitalism. No time for fun. You must be in a permanent state of righteous anger.

Not saying theaters should go out of business. Just never liked it. Rather watch a movie at home. Always!

I haven’t been to the theater in over a decade. It would have been longer had I not been taking my children to their movies.

Movie Theaters make their profit from concessions stand sales. Look for tickets to go up bigtime.
