Texas Department Public Safety spokesman Lt. Christopher Olivarez confirmed to a reporter during a live shot that police officers went into Robb Elementary School to get their own children during the massacre.
Amid outrage over reports that frantic families who complained about police inaction during the massacre were held back by police, a clip of a live interview with Olivarez from Tuesday has gone viral.

Not a good look.
Understandable from a human perspective, but not a good look.
We should start a go fund me to raise money to repaint Texas police cars to remove any reference to “serve and protect”
Any claim of pride in bring a Texas LEO is bogus.
Here: senator@mcconnell.senate.gov. Ask him.
It was all about increasing the body count.
Eff the Feds. Everyone else has jurisdiction, too.
I believe he was rehired or given compesation for wrongful termination, and civil suits dismissed.
The government has no duty under law, to assist anything.
Yeah, that ain’t good.
Clear abuse of authority in the face of a mother cuffed and a father tased and another pepper sprayed being held back from trying to do exactly the same thing that these cops with badges and guns did. Not to mention clear derilection of duty resulting in mass casualties.
Lawyers, HO!!
Once a Marine always a Marine Charles Whitman.
A lesson in the instant case. Next time the parents need to show up with longarms and take care of business. Police are not essential.
He was also charged criminally with seven counts of child neglect, three counts of culpable negligence, and one count of perjury. IIRC, he goes on trial this fall.
If that is true that Feds said to wait, then every Fed LEO in Texas should be hunted down and parents get to decide punishment.
LOL. Settle down turbo, it was a rhetorical question, and easy to ferret out the answer.
See ya around.
McConnell is anything but stupid.
The Democrats would love nothing more than for McConnell and other Republican leadership to come out against any gun control measure in the wake of this shooting. It's giving them a free political gift because of the short-term emotions of the public.
What McConnell will do is come out and say that he supports reasonable gun control measures. Then, when the legislation eventually emerges, he'll say it is unreasonable and oppose it. He'll also point to Republican amendments that were rejected by the Democratic majority as the legislation that should have been enacted.
This strategy will anger a lot of hardcore gun supporters, but the bottom line is that it will end up in the exact same place except with the Democrats being unable to make political mileage out of it.
McConnell has his flaws, but he is a master at handling the political repercussions of incidents like this. It's one of the reasons Democrats really hate him.
I do not blame them at all for going in, but once in, their responsibility extended to saving others and killing the shooter. I'm not sure if 'coward' applies to a guy that goes in when an active shooter is in the building.
I also think there is more to it than we know.
The Uvalde City School District has its own police department — staffed with a chief, five cops, and a security guard
“ For going in to save their own kids.”
For dereliction of duty.
L
They used a taser on a parent and put a mom in handcuffs.
They put out police tape.
They sat there waiting an hour.
One little girl was shot five times and survived. Amazingly she survived the hour delay as well, had surgery, and is expected to recover.
How many more died there while police officer were taking their parents?
I don’t know this is true - I am trying to figure out why people stood around doing NOTHING - for a full hour.
Was an “order” given?.......
WHY didn’t SOMEONE lock the ******g school down - probably just by mashing one single button?
If there were gunshots for several minutes before he entered the school, that should have been plenty of time to lock every door. Why the doors weren’t locked is a question that will have to be answered.
It needs to be remembered that (if reports are correct) that all of the teachers except the two who were murdered did, in fact, keep their kids safe.
I can understand police entering to get their own kids, I have to hope that they also got all the other kids in their kids’ class out. But frankly this whole police response is starting to look like a cluster****.
