In a translated Facebook post, the Ukrainian government said it was grateful for Penn being there. He was lauded as being more courageous than Western leaders.
'An American actor and filmmaker, Oscar winner Sean Penn arrived to Ukraine. The director specially came to Kiev to record all the events that are currently happening in Ukraine and to tell the world the truth about Russia's invasion of our country.
'Sean Penn is among those who support Ukraine in Ukraine today. Our country is grateful to him for such a show of courage and honesty.

I loathe Sean Penn. But I will acknowledge that he is indeed willing to risk his own safety unlike “brave” Kamala Harris or our Ice Cream Licker in Chief.

I generally loathe celebrities, while not knowing who they are, but thanks to Bloom County, I know who this one is. He is an actor of some sort who was married to Madonna, was assaulted by a photographer, and sued either Kodak or Polaroid (at least in the Comic Strip).
If he has done anything of greater importance that makes it so that I should care what he has to say, please fill me in.
If there is to be only one casualty in this war, one could likely do worse.
Though we do need more statesmen, if you know what I mean.

I wish he had told that vulture to take a walk. My opinion of Zelensky would’ve risen.
He’s actually been in some pretty decent movies...although not necessarily for his contribution.
