Mayor Eric Adams said Saturday he supports a controversial bill to allow hundreds of thousands of non-citizens living in New York City to participate in local elections.
The City Council approved the “Our City, Our Vote” measure in December, despite concerns from more than a dozen lawmakers, former Mayor Bill de Blasio and some constitutional experts.

Born and raised, my friend. I left town more than 35 years ago and absolutely nothing can get me to stop despising the place. Anyone that can, should get out!
Anyone here remember the United States of America? A place where citizens got to decide.
If anybody from anywhere can vote, I say we round up busses from all over the country and go up there to vote!
I remember there were those crazies who do actually believe the rest of the world should get to vote for the US President, based on the fact the US impacts their lives as well.
Florida narrowly avoided a street punk junkie name Andrew Gillum and got Ron DeSantis instead. Whew.

So, Mr. Adams, why do we have citizenship?
The City Council approved the “Our City, Our Vote” measure in December, despite concerns from more than a dozen lawmakers, [and even] former Mayor Bill de Blasio and some constitutional experts.
Man, don’t I know!!! Dodged a cannon ball!
All of the U N delegates who reside in NYC, why not let them vote?
He rolled over on this one. Said something different during the campaign. That is worse than the actual belief. Means we can’t trust him. I’m so sorry I started to hope.
I believe the UN people can vote if they’ve been here 30 days.
As someone very smart said, they are not “non-citizens.” Don’t call them that.
The are citizens of another country. Call them “foreign citizens” or “citizens of a foreign country.”
Many of them are citizens of countries that are our direct enemies.
There are already a dozen or so cities that allow noncitizens to vote and the closest to me is Takoma Park, MD which has allowed noncitizens to vote for well over a decade. The city has two sets of registrations - one for local and the other for state and federal. This went through the court system and passed muster.
The only solution at this point is a constitutional amendment, which is easier said than done and the Republicans don't have the intestinal fortitude required to get it through Congress.
NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!
Everyone is a citizen of somewhere, usually their birthplace. If they change their citizenship to someplace else they are then citizens of that other place.
Yes I know that. That is the problem: They are not going to switch their citizenship but will be able to vote anyway. That’s just wrong-—and dangerous.
Reads like a line from Mad Magazine.
Local elections only.
Until the one-party state government decides to make it state and local.
I’ma non cityzen of new yurk
Let me vote!
42. Re anybody remember the USA. I have a picture of it around here somewhere. I keep it in a safe place just in case I need a reminder of what was.
