Tate Myre is one of four victims who died at Oxford High School
According to his fellow students, Myre, who is an honor student and played running back for the Oxford Wildcats football team, was shot while trying to stop the shooter and later died from his injuries. It is reported that Tate rushed the active shooter and took multiple gunshot wounds trying to disarm him, allowing time for others to seek safety.
Tate had just finished his junior football season and had received all-region for TE and LB. A few days before his death he had taken a recruiting visit to Toledo. His Twitter bio was classic high school recruit, with a 3.9 GPA, 4.5 time in the 40-yd dash, and benched 225×8.
Students want school stadium to be renamed after Tate Myre…
It is with great grief that one of the victims of the tragic event at OHS today was one of our own, Tate Myre. Tate was on varsity since his freshman year and was an honor student. Tate was a great young man with a bright future and beloved by all. You will be missed, Tate 💙💛 pic.twitter.com/AKJCH1UWBG

RIP brave hero.
Prayers up for all who loved Tate.
Dudes a hero. This is what a man does.
God bless and receive this young man. Terrible condolences to his family, but thank you and congratulations as well. RIP,son.
Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
Well done, good and faithful servant. May he rest in the arms of the Lord.
Maybe the wanton murder of Tate Myre will convince his fellow students and other Michiganders to demand the re-establishment of capital punishment in Michigan, which abolished it in 1846, except for treason, and completely in 1963.
American hero defined. Refused to cower and took violent action against an armed criminal to defend those weaker than him.
I wish he had lived. We need more people like him in the world.
Senseless death of a bright young man. But went out with honor and courage. May he RIP and prayers up for the friends and family of Tate Myre.
20/20 hindsight.
He should have tackled the shooter. Hit him from behind or the side and knock him off his feet.
Note I am not demeaning his bravery. just thinking.
According to Fox News a few minutes ago, his parents were brought in to the school that morning to discuss behavioral issues. His father bought the gun used only last Friday. The mugshot has a devil like smirk and the prosecutor says onsite video will make you sick.
I like to point out examples like this when people talk about how weak kids are today. If we went to war, the skinny kid who bags your groceries might win the Medal of Honor. Search the name Rodger Young.
Tate Mire will be honored and then his death will be used by those who wish to change all that he held dear. if only more thought like tate, they would have stopped the shooter sooner.
Prayers for the family for comfort. A real hero and now in the arms of JESUS. Amen
Um, if you’re confronted with someone facing you with a gun and shooting your fellow students, you believe the best course of action is to bide your time for a better opportunity to take him out?
We weren’t there, but based on what I’ve seen on social media, this killer came in gun blazing without mercy taking head/chest kill shots. Tate did what any war hero would have done putting himself between the killer and his friends.
The article said “disarm” that means, take the gun. I am saying take out the shooter.
And yes, Tate was a hero.
The brave young men we are seeing lately...Tate, Kyle and probably others unknown, is a small glimmer of hope. (Still just want to cry)
All some cowardly adults can look at is gun control.
Another 17 year old who’s more of a man than any of the alleged adults around him.
L
I wish we could go back to the days when teens brought guns to school and no one killed a bunch of people.
Something is different?
No God?
To many drugs?..legal and illegal.
Public schools filling kids heads full of crap?
Broken homes?
General disconnect?
RIP to this brave and heroic young man.
