I’ve no doubt he was trying to take out the shooter. My guess is he never made it to him before being shot multiple times. Article also states his actions allowed other students to escape. It may have only been 5 or 10 seconds, but that little bit of time obviously did prevent more bloodshed than there would have been otherwise.
