Tate Myre is one of four victims who died at Oxford High School
According to his fellow students, Myre, who is an honor student and played running back for the Oxford Wildcats football team, was shot while trying to stop the shooter and later died from his injuries. It is reported that Tate rushed the active shooter and took multiple gunshot wounds trying to disarm him, allowing time for others to seek safety.
Tate had just finished his junior football season and had received all-region for TE and LB. A few days before his death he had taken a recruiting visit to Toledo. His Twitter bio was classic high school recruit, with a 3.9 GPA, 4.5 time in the 40-yd dash, and benched 225×8.

I’ve no doubt he was trying to take out the shooter. My guess is he never made it to him before being shot multiple times. Article also states his actions allowed other students to escape. It may have only been 5 or 10 seconds, but that little bit of time obviously did prevent more bloodshed than there would have been otherwise.
Yes, we do agree he is a hero.

I wept when I read of the students killed by that little nutcase, especially about Tate. He was obviously made of the right stuff, had the leadership gene coming out of his ears. And now our numbers have been sadly diminished of one who would have been a great man by the likes of this horribly sick and bent family and their twisted offspring. “Bullying”, my foot! That kid needs to fry or at the minimum, be thrown into the darkest cell with the key thrown away. He is a glaring example of “The Bad Seed”. His gene line should END.
