Officials at the U.S. State Department declined on Aug. 19 to say why Secretary of State Antony Blinken “paused” a special evacuation unit formed by his predecessor, even as the firestorm of reaction to the bungled Afghanistan withdrawal intensified.
In June, Blinken signed off on the department’s fiscal year 2022 budget justification request submitted to Congress that included a notation that, while $50.8 million was sought for the Crisis and Contingency Response (CCR) program, “the department has paused implementation pending a policy review.”
When asked by The Epoch Times “Why was [CCR] paused, is that still State’s intent, and is [CCR] being utilized now in the Kabul evacs,” the department spokesman declined to respond.
Instead, the spokesman repeated a statement previously provided to media inquiries, saying:
“It is important to note that not only would the proposed [CCR] not have introduced any new capabilities to the department, it was never formally established. Some administrative steps were taken before its establishment was paused, but the day-to-day operations of the team have not changed.

Incompetent people get many things wrong, but to be wrong 100% means it’s deliberate. Stupid people accidentally get some things right.
They are compelled to oppose anything which found favor during the Trump administration.
Wasn’t Pompeo a toady for that hated Trump - oh you mean the best Secretary of State we ever had. Blinken is like an old shrew breaking all the pottery in a temper trantrum.

Spite. It’s a natural sentiment for incompetent tribal political wonks but it’s stupid for anyone in charge of anything important.
I think Blinken is going to be forced out. There are also reports that the Embassy warned the State Dept in July that Kabul would probably be overrun by Taliban & it was imperative to start airlifts immediately of Afghan interpreters, etc that needed to get out.
They asked for the money.

Paused the program.
WTF is the money?

I read that Meghan McCain went on a total anti-Biden rant today. The McCains were his biggest GOP allies for a long time, but she was absolutely scorching in her words today about Joe.
He may be gaga now, but his underlying life-long incompetence is amazing, not to mention the basic ill will and arrogance displayed in the Biden administration’s ignoring of all warnings and advice.
Re refugees:
Afghan ethnic groups are over 50% Pashtun. Pashtuns are whites. Often blue eyed. Whites.
Now think about the census and what import of 300K high birth rate whites would mean. Afghanistan 4.2 births per woman. US Whites 1.6.
No way in HELL the Dems will let this happen.

For the Biden administration, if the choice is between incompetence or intentional malice, the safest assumption is to assume they are choosing both.
