After surging for months because of the hypercontagious Delta variant, COVID-19 cases in the United Kingdom are rapidly plummeting, raising the question of whether America’s Delta wave could also peak sooner than expected.
“In the United Kingdom … cases are clearly coming down at this point,” Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former Food and Drug Administration commissioner, told CNBC on Monday. “If the U.K. is turning the corner, it’s a pretty good indication that maybe we’re further into this than we think, and maybe we’re two or three weeks away from starting to see our own plateau here in the United States.”

The answer is yes. Our numbers could very well return to baseline by the end of August, beginning of Sept. The UK is following the same track in India.

How many died fro the delta variant there? Thy keep telling us that the delta variant is making the rounds, but neglect to say how many died, how many vaccinated died from the variant, how many unvaccinated, etc

This country was the origin of the Delta Variant. The peak was late May this year.
Nobody is panicking about India anymore. What did they do?
HINT: In many states, they actually widely distributed a much maligned repurposed drug.

The death rate appears to be lower than the other waves. I think it is about the same as the flu.
The outbreak peak sooner because a lot of people were infected with the previous waves and they are now immune to Delta.
Each new wave will infect less and less until it goes away if it does not mutate to something worst. It should go away like the Spanish flu did.

Thanks, so an estimated 20,000 might die from the delta- the average i think of flu deaths?- although it likely will be even less i would think, because most of the elderly and sick who got regular covid have passed unfortunately, and those that survived it will now fair better IF they develop the delta variant- they are the survivors, and what’s left really, are the ‘more healthy sick and elderly’ (Those that weren’t really sick who became victims of covid because they were too weak to battle it), and those who are healthy who almost certainly will breeze right through the Delta if they get it-
Do your own thinking. Get raw data and look at it. Pay no attention to either right wing or left wing gurus. They know nothing.
Consider. Last year in Spring the original virus design arrived in the US Northeast. Many died in those states.
But there was a peak and a decline. There was no vaccine then. There is a temptation to declare natural immunity taking hold, but the problem with that is come summer there was a minor uptick. This alleged natural immunity didn’t stop that, nor did it stop the explosion of deaths in November/December.
There have been suggestions that the northeast didn’t get hit hard in winter so maybe immunity did work (rather than having killed all the nursing home vulnerable already). The answer to that is found on Cyprus. A small island with no regionality to speak of. They have had multiple peaks.
There is no natural immunity to a virus that is constantly changing. Even if a virus is NOT constantly changing, like smallpox, centuries of history did not show natural immunity defeating it.
And so, get your own data and do your own thinking.
