Former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean (D-VT) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that former President Donald Trump is like Jim Jones, the cult leader.
Guest-host Jason Johnson said, “How concerned are you when you see every political party in this country devoted to committing ignorance that combatting lifesaving methods in this country?”
Dean said, “It’s pretty frightening, really. The CPAC people have gotten more and more sort of off the charts, and Trump has always been a little nuts. The thing that is so ironic about this is the people who they are killing in Missouri, for example, are actually Trump voters. Because the Trump voters have a much higher percentage of people, who are not vaccinated exactly because of this garbage the former president is putting out. They are not being vaxxed. In southern Missouri, which is a conservative part of the state and a conservative part of the country, you have the death rate going up hugely. The highest increase in death rates have been in places like Mississippi and Alabama, Arkansas and Missouri that is where people believe this. This has become a cult. There is rationality behind this. It is a cult based on anger, fear and ignorance.”

Does Howard Dean have even a clue what's happening?
“We” will be just fine. When you know whats coming you can prepare for it. When you live is a media created fantasy land , life comes at you fast, leaving you no time to react....most likely leading to the deaths of folks just like Howard.
“We are fully vaccinated and thank President Trump for making it possible so quickly, but we let others decide for themselves whether to take the vaccine.”
A year and a half ago, when President Trump launched Operation Warp Speed, it was clearly the right thing to do.
At that time, little was known about Covid19 except the horrific reports and videos coming out of Italy and other hot spots.
We were being bombarded with worst case scenarios, comparing Covid19 to the Spanish Flu, predicting that hundreds of millions might die.
Who in their right mind would not welcome a vaccine ASAP?
But a year and a half later, we know that the worst case scenarios did not materialize. Not even close. Survival rates for otherwise healthy people are 99.9%, and that includes co-morbidities. The deaths caused by Covid ALONE are apparently so rare they can’t even track them.
In fact, Covid19 is so mild that you need a test to find out if you may have had it. Furthermore, if you find you did have it, that is seen as a good thing, because now you are immune.
These vaccines were rushed through, untested, non FDA approved. And rushing them through was an extremely smart thing for President Trump to do a year and a half ago.
But that does NOT mean it is smart to take the vaccine now, with what we know today.
I’m not going to question your judgement - and I appreciate you not questioning mine.
I just want to remind everyone that just because launching Warp Speed was the right thing for President Trump to do a year and a half ago, that does NOT mean that refusing the vaccine now is somehow being disloyal to President Trump.
I hear this kind of argument all the time here on FR: “What? You think the vaccine is not worth the risk? So are you saying President Trump was wrong to push for a vaccine?”
No that’s not what I’m saying. He was right to push for a vaccine given what we knew (and did not know) then.
Now, a year and a half later, I don’t think the vaccine is worth the risk.
I’m not the slightest bit afraid of covid - and I’m 69.
If I was afraid of covid, perhaps I would get the vaccination.
But I’m just not.
But putting all that aside, there is a far more worrisome thing going on.
With covid obviously not nearly as serious as originally feared, and with the vaccine not nearly as well tested as previous vaccines, why are they pushing it on us so hard?
To me, it feels very political. It feels as if the Biden Administration is testing how far they can push us. They are flexing their muscles to see how authoritarian they can get away with being.
I’ll say it even more clearly:
To me, it feels like Marxists are running the Biden Administration and they think they have consolidated their power enough so they don’t even care what we think. They are just going to start laying down the law as they see fit. Screw elections. Screw the Constitution.
Go ahead and take their vaccination if you really think it makes you safer - but aren’t you a little curious to know what happens if you refuse?

There’s something wrong with these people. But we’ve known that for a long time.

I am 79 and husband is 82 with COPD and heart issues. We have known several persons who have had COVID, including one who died.
One of my younger cousins, who is in their ‘40s, and her husband were extremely ill. They only started getting better when they found a doctor who would prescribe hydroxychloroquine.
Yeah, I’m afraid of the Wuhan Flu. I had experience with the Asian and Hong Kong Flu as a young person. Wouldn’t want to go through those again at my age.
My husband was in the military for 20 years and was immunized for everything from plague to cholera and yellow fever and I have had nearly as many. We even got the swine flu shots back in the ‘70s. You name it, we have probably had shots for it.
So, for a person my age, I think the benefit of the vaccine is well worth the risk. But, that is my own decision and it has nothing to do with politics. No one should be pressured into taking the vaccine.
I think that was a threat.
