Ohio Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance said on Monday that he regrets posting since-deleted tweets critical of former President Trump.
“Like a lot of people, I criticized Trump back in 2016,” Vance told Fox News's Alicia Acuna during a Monday interview. “And I ask folks not to judge me based on what I said in 2016, because I’ve been very open that I did say those critical things and I regret them, and I regret being wrong about the guy. I think he was a good president, I think he made a lot of good decisions for people, and I think he took a lot of flak.”
“I think … the most important thing is not what you said five years ago, but whether you’re willing to stand up and take the heat and take the hits for actually defending the interests of the American people,” Vance said.
Vance also said in the clip shared by Mediaite that he met with Trump recently at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Vance, the author of the bestselling memoir "Hillbilly Elegy" and venture capitalist, announced his bid on Thursday to fill retiring Ohio Sen. Rob Portman's (R) seat.
He has taken on a pro-Trump stance in recent years but contenders in the crowded GOP field had been expected to pounce on his past criticism of Trump. He has come under fire in recent days after CNN's Andrew Kaczynski posted several since-deleted tweets from Vance saying, among other things, that he would vote for Evan McMullin.
Never trust anyone who voted for McMuffin.
Vance is running on his almost constant appearances on Tucker. I record Tucker so I can FF past commercials and Vance appearances.
Yesterday FNC described Ryan as a “moderate Democrat.” Maybe they have him confused with Paul Ryan....
I has severe reservations about Trump in 2016. For one thing he favored the Supreme Court decision in Kelo v. City of New London. I did not see him as a small government conservative, like Rand Paul, and I had doubts about his electability. But compared to Hilary. A total no-brainer.
But once he was elected, he delivered, big time. Absent the Covid hysteria, I am pretty sure he would have been reelected handily. I am in the “don’t know” category as to whether or not vote fraud defeated him, but I do NOT accept Biden as having been legitimately elected.

Sounds a lot like Graham and Hannity. Buyer beware here, IMO.
I agree 100%. I was vehemently anti-Trump myself during the 2016 primaries (incorrectly assuming he'd lose in a landslide in the general), so I can't bash this guy for that. However, I never PRO-McMullin. I don't know anyone else who switched from Cruz to McMullin, either. I took one look at Egg McMuffin as the "conservative alternative" and said "yikes, this guy is to the LEFT of Trump", and that was the end of that. Not as bad as the pro-Hillary "Republicans" in 2016, but bad enough.
On a side note, I've never read this guy's book, but I DID see the movie adaptation earlier this year since I'm a judge of the Razzie Awards and it was up for some nominations. It's one of those "unintentionally funny", so-bad-its-good movies that tries to end stereotypes of "poor Appalachian Mountain folk" by PERPETUATING stereotypes of poor Appalachian Mountain folk. It must be seen to be believed.
Mark Levin didn’t support Trump either.
“It takes some people longer to see what others see, immediately.”
I am jaw-dropped looking at all of tgese responses.
This guy is running for office. A different office
Let’s see these guys make such statements when they are not running for office.
Let’s see how they behave after they’re elected.
Until proven otherwise, I see him as nothing more than an opportunist.
Trump has left a lasting mark on the political landscape.
I'll watch and see who Trump endorses in this race, because he/she will automatically move into the top in the polls.
“Mark Levin didn’t support Trump either.”
Mark levin came upon his turn around honestly. I listened to the whole thing over months live on radio
Levin was not changing jobs nor running for office as this guy is
Stop
I’ll trust him if I can have three members of his immediate family to be held as hostages in an undisclosed location.
A feature of medieval feudalism that should be revived, IMHO.
Indeed. I was for Cruz until after the Texas primary. Once Trump was the nominee, there was no excuse for supporting a would-be spoiler like McMuffin.
I supported Cruz back then, but made the switch to the Trump train, and contributed to Trump, prior to the nomination.
And it should be noted that those tweets were made back in 2016........
My thoughts, exactly.
In politics the opinions change with the blowing wind.
I heard him speak on Tucker and to me he seemed to have a handle on the destructive nature of free trade and globalism.
So in other words you possess zero political savvy.
Mark Levin is Libertarian Free Traitor. F him.
