I really do think that the easy availability of guns in our society does help explain this...I'm not against gun ownership, I believe in the 2nd Amendment, but I do believe in reasonable restrictions. I would like to know how this guy got his gun. Does he have a mental illness? Was it easily available? Was it lawfully purchased? I think that's an issue that has to be debated.

More people are killed by hammers every year than by long guns.
AR-15s are a subset of long guns.
I think AD is specifically addressing the Atlanta shootings. I have a hard time believing that no one in those establishments was packing.
It is the existence of pathetic people like Alan Dershowitz that explain gun violence. Because people like that have completely screwed up any sense of right and wrong. Good and Bad.
I agree...what kind of madam doesn’t have a 9mm in her handbag?
Heck the girl that cuts my hair has three guns, one in a holster on her back, one in her purse, and one in a pull out drawer with her tools.
I agree. No gun sales to Muslims
Dershowitz picks and chooses which parts of the Constitution he thinks are worth paying attention to.
Pure slop from Dersh but the only question I have is how does one get the firearm if he is under the eye of the FBI? I am not saying being watched by the FBI makes one lose rights but the sick coincidence is that so many mass shooters were people of interest and under the scope of the FBI let alone local law enforcement or other agencies or institutions .
All gun problems were solved when Lying Lyndon Johnson signed the 1968 gun control act into law.
“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.”
—Lyndon Johnson signing the 1968 gun control act into law.
How’d that work out for the USA!
He killed 10. Charles Whitman killed 15 with a Remington 700 bolt action rifle.
Julio González, in 1990, killed 87 using a match and a gallon of gasoline. Happyland Dance Club fire.
Our Lady of the Angels School fire killed 95 back in 1958. Some today still believe it was arson.
In 1902, Harry Tracy stacked up dead lawmen like cord wood with his 30-30 Lever action Winchester 1894.
“The sword does not kill. it is a tool in the killer’s hand.”—Seneca (circa 4 BC - 65 AD).
Alan, allow me to explain why gun laws do not work.
Colorado has the trifecta of what the Dems are pushing for:
- Universal background checks
- Red Flag laws
- Magazine limits (15 rounds)
They did not stop a mad man (sudden jihadist) who was not a citizen, who had a prior misdemeanor assault conviction, who was being watched by the FBI and who’s family was worried about his mental state.
What stopped his murderous attack was a good guy .... with a gun.
Not much thought and investigation went into that stupid comment.
The easy availability of vaginas explains the incidences of rape.
STFU you DIRTY old man!! If Jews would have had guns, there would NOT have been a Holocaust,DOPE!
As does easy entry into the US by inbred Moslems !
The stated fact is that he purchased the gun a week before the murders. If it were known to be a legitimate sale, we should have heard about it by now. Therefore we can assume that it wasn’t. The Dersh is wrong to make assumptions that it was.
This is why you never trust liberals. He only supports part of the Constitution. The parts he likes.
Just search alan dershowitz and friends and jeffrey epstein and you get results such as...
Jeffrey Epstein and Harvard attorney & professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz shared a long friendship...
Need anyone ever consider anything Mister Dershowitz says or said? Ever?
.
The FBI would need to have a law to allow them to stop firearms transfers administratively first, before stopping some of the mass murderers from getting firearms. They probably couldn’t legally do anything to stop the transfer in the case of Alissa.
We could try to to come up with something other than universal psychological evaluations, but nothing will stop mass murders from ever happening again. Such incidents are going to happen within a huge population of people. People aren’t perfect, and no society is perfect. The risks are part of life. We might consider the huge numbers of deaths from drug overdoses and other deaths incidental to drug abuse. We might consider the huge numbers of deaths from auto accidents.
> Has Alan heard about “knives” or “clubs” or “swords” either?
What about a pointy stick?
(With regards to Monty Python)
Or a banana!!!
We haven’t done bananas!!
