I really do think that the easy availability of guns in our society does help explain this...I'm not against gun ownership, I believe in the 2nd Amendment, but I do believe in reasonable restrictions. I would like to know how this guy got his gun. Does he have a mental illness? Was it easily available? Was it lawfully purchased? I think that's an issue that has to be debated.

It's not going to be a perfect world, either. In the United States population, there are over 330 million people by now. Mass murders will happen even more, if much of the more sane part of the population is disarmed according to income and legal resources (expensive evaluations, research to find ethical psychologists, lawyers, etc.).
And generally, who is more sane? Would the person who is insulated from many of the dangers in this population be more sane, really (higher income, law abiding)? Or would people who are more often confronted with those dangers and coping with them be more sane (lower income, law abiding)?
And how long, before the left disarms people of the next income level, too? And the next?
If the Incel had hacked his victims up with an axe, would Dershowitz feel better about it.
Liberalism is a better explanation.
His reluctance to come right out and bluntly state his position on what to do is problematic, too. In my opinion, such universal psychological evaluations would lead to more Democrats being armed than Republicans. I’ve known psychologists who would agree with me.
That is a feature not a bug Alan.
What explains it even more so is the fact that murder is an innate part of humanity.
“but I do believe in reasonable restrictions”
What part of SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED doesn’t this (self censored) get? There is no issue to debate. As libs love to say, the debate is over.
Sorry Alan, it is the loss of Morality that is the cause of most shootings. We as a nation survived the 1929 depression with “easy access to guns”.
Blaming a free society for the consequences of ubiquitous liberal insanity is usually below him.
[If the Incel had hacked his victims up with an axe, would Dershowitz feel better about it.]
Apparently so. Has Alan heard about “knives” or “clubs” or “swords” either?
One of the girls claimed Alan was present on JE’s island and witnessed some of what happened.
To him, a reasonable restriction means keeping your underwear on when being massaged by Epstein’s girls.
He is amazed that when you bomb Syrians, they want to shoot back...
The question for any politician:
“Do criminals abide by gun laws?”
(crickets)
>> Does he have a mental illness? Was it easily available? Was it lawfully purchased?
Was he known to the FBI?
The easy availability of Dersh is usually quite helpful. In this case, not so much.
Easy availability of automobiles explains tens of thousands of deaths, millions of injuries and billions of dollars of damages every year.
And under the regime of wokeness, the mass murderer might have passed an evaluation done by psychologists anyway. In my school, some of the psychology students were in the faction that protested against the so-called patriarchy by occasionally wearing black clothing and “mourning.” That faction included students from social work, nursing, women’s studies, drama, English and commercial graphics programs.
Folks, no matter what we do with more laws to restrict our Second Amendment rights, this immoral and rotting society with a population of around 330 million people will produce some mass murderers. And they’ll easily obtain firearms. The real question is, “Do you want to be able to defend yourself?”
Another good question might be, “Why do you want to preserve the life and freedom of every murderer as long as possible? Why not allow them to run into their consequences with people defending themselves?” We won’t clean up our house by harboring and preserving the bugs. Protecting them only allows them to attack more insidiously and effectively while further hurting others with false accusations and political and psychological jargon.
And what about the drug problem? You know that some of the families of mass murderers have hidden that, and most of them did have the financial and legal resources to do so.
Thirty eight state legislatures are *sure* to enthusiastically support an amendment.
LOL
