65 Year Old Woman Tackled, Arrested For Refusing To Mask A Day After Abbott Lifted Mandate
The mask mandate was lifted statewide on March 10, but the very next day a 65-year old woman was tackled to the ground by police after being told by a Galveston Bank of America branch to mask up.
She later recounted in an interview with FOX Houston that she was there to close her account, and that she couldn’t enter the drive-thru. “Ma’am you have to leave…,” the bank staff told her upon entering. “I just want to close my account, I’m gonna get my money and then I’ll leave. I can’t use the drive-thru, I’m pulling the rig.”

Social distancing seems lacking.
This is INSANE!
These younguns need to learn to respect signage and follow directions of duly sworn bank employees. Whipper snappers I tell ya. :-)
LAW SUIT IN 3.. 2... 1..
Bank of America is insane. I had deal with them when trying to help an elderly relative. Let’s just say they don’t care what kind of legal documents you have. They dare you to go to court (even though they lose those cases).
She’s gonna end up with multiple bank accounts now after she wins her lawsuit against the nut who tackled her. Abbott’s mask lifting order will be on her side.
Does anyone remember Wayne LaPierre’s NRA fund-raising letter slamming federal agents as “armed terrorists dressed in Ninja black ... jack-booted thugs armed to the teeth who break down doors, open fire with automatic weapons and kill law-abiding citizens.”
Didn’t Bank of American give up people who might have been in DC on the 6th through credit card charges without a warrant? I know AT&T gave up cell phone locations without a warrant. How fast we have become a Fascist nation without anyone challenging it
I have to say she’s in a private business then asked to leave....she should have left as it’s their business.
Do I believe the business and masks are BS——absolutely! I do believe it but it’s their stupid business, get your money your and go somewhere else.
I’m fed up with these stupid mask “edicts” and idiots that believe masks are the answer...they are science deniers.
When you are asked to leave, regardless of it being from private or public property, you become a trespasser if you do not leave immediately.
You don’t get a “time out” during which you can rant. You leave.
In this state, and I suppose most are similar, the person in charge of the property may take reasonable force to remove you.. a dangerous move.
So in this case the cops had the right and the duty to remove her.
Now whether they were too rough is an entirely different question and not resolvable by anyone not present.
Yes they did.
First, way over the top as a response by local LEO.....Officers should be disciplined/fired.....
However, the edict from the Governor states that individual businesses can still require masks.....
If the business requires it and asks you to leave, it is private property you need to comply with the request or leave......
Anything else eventually becomes criminal trespass.....
However, as initially stated this was way over the top as a local LEO response and bad business practice by the bank......
Hopefully, a lot of people will close their accounts.....
And because maskers know their gross overreaction to a falsely perceived threat is considered necessary and even appropriate by many others and that they will not be held accountable for the harm they have caused, masked people truly believe that in their fear-filled, ignorant state the rules of civil society no longer apply to them.
Their business, their rules.
One of the comments at the article...
“Good thing banks don’t require folks to wear buttplugs.”
I think that’s what she was trying to do.
Yeppers...
Never a good idea to bow up with the cops. Go to court because most likely you’re gonna lose on the street. Or in this case on private property. As for ‘boa’......... Never get my business. I’d rather deal with my mattress.
Yeah the private business (laughable to call major banks that anymore...) can set its own rules but the police could exercise some discretion and choose not to intervene in mask-based trespass calls. I am sure they have other things to do.
