Washington (CNN) — US Capitol Police on Wednesday afternoon arrested a West Virginia man who was armed with a handgun and 20 rounds of ammunition outside the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, which is near the US Capitol, a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police Department said.
He was taken into custody for having a black .9mm Sig Sauer handgun and the ammunition, the report said.
The arrest comes weeks after hundreds of rioters stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to stop the Senate's confirmation of President Joe Biden. Five people, including a police officer were killed. Security was tightened throughout DC after the January 6 insurrection and continued through last week's presidential inauguration.

20 rounds?
That’s nothing.
One mag and an extra.
Why would the Officer ask him if there was a Gun in the Car?
Is that something new when you Illegally Park your Car now?
Is that a question a Meter Maid would ask while writing a Ticket?
On nooooo....a black gun and perp had $300 worth of ammo...smh
If he fights it in court, he might have a chance of it being thrown out because the officer shouldnt ask without cause. But in DC court? Hope he has something like US Lawshield protection. That might help him out of it.
Unfortunately he can’t plead Ignorance of the Law Either.
So much for the Constitution being the Law of the Land.
Pretty much.
Unregistered ammunition? What does that mean?
Remember a couple of years ago in England when somebody found an actual live .22LR cartridge in the street? Total panic. I don’t recall the exact response, but it was something like evacuating the area and calling the bomb squad.
Did nanzi immediately petition to have the NG troop strength returned to 25k?
The idiot deserved to be arrested for his own safety.
When I have to visit DC I make sure to have a lot more than just 20 rounds with me! That place is so dangerous they need a National Guard garrison to protect it!
UK I believe it. In Zimbabwe some troops found an old rusted .22 round while a farmer was plowing his field; yup.
That’s been the case in DC for a very long time. Before Heller, you had to be a VIP or very well connected to get your hands on a permit which would allow you to have any firearms or ammunition in DC.
That’s why I almost like when one of these loony cities or states passes some obscene gun control law. It makes it that much easier for the Supreme Court to issue a precedent-setting ruling that slaps everyone back to reality. I was really hoping President Trump was going to be able to replace Roberts or one other liberal on the court. However, replacing Ginsburg was a great opportunity as we can now attack the NFA, GCA, and FOPA.
Sig does not make a .9mm pistol. These people are dumb. Anyway, gangbangers don’t carry $1,200 pistols. They like the cheap, plastic Glocks.

Now, that is subtle.
“ Man arrested with gun and 20 rounds of ammunition near US Capitol”
Oh my! It could have been much worse, he could have had 30 rounds.
I’m 71 and carry with no problem here in Missouri. Only 20 round means I do not have my shoulder holster on.
Now, that is subtle.

Very. You are the only one to have picked up on that post.
My point, which you probably already know, is tied to one of the keywords I added.
As we all know, The FBI is deeply imbedded in all areas of conservatism. They have plants and operatives spying on, infiltrating and working to harm us all. This old guy with a gun? Could very well be nothing more than their slimy means to paint all conservatives as white power insurrectionists.
“Oh and by the way, lets bring another 5,000 troops into the capital.”
A black (racist) gun and 20 rounds of ammo. Sounds like an arsenal or a weapons cache to me. (sarc). My Lord. There are zero constitutional rights in Washington, DC.
