Well, unless he had some reason to suspect, the officer should not have asked. But once he does you are in a quandary of answering truthfully or going down the road of arguing he doesnt have a right to ask that. Now I might go down that road if I was fully legal, but with him in DC with a gun illegally, no good way out.

If he fights it in court, he might have a chance of it being thrown out because the officer shouldnt ask without cause. But in DC court? Hope he has something like US Lawshield protection. That might help him out of it.

Unfortunately he can’t plead Ignorance of the Law Either.

So much for the Constitution being the Law of the Land.
