SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Four State Senators made the request for a special session to appoint a new set of electors in the 2020 Presidential Election.
Governor Kemp and Lt. Governor Duncan released a joint statement Sunday, saying a special session to select a separate slate of electors is not allowed under state or federal law.
The statement went on to say in part, “the General Assembly decided that Georgia’s presidential electors will be determined by the winner of the state’s popular vote. Any attempt by the legislature to retroactively change that process for the November 3rd election would be unconstitutional and immediately enjoined by the courts.”
The Governor and Lt. Governor say this would not make for a short-term resolution.
They say the judicial system is the only viable option to dispute the results of the November 3rd election in Georgia.
Polls are showing 58% of Georgia residents want the special session.
Trump has asked for the special session.
Legislators have asked for the special session.
The Governor’s attempt to block it may not work though.
The Legislature may be over to open a session on their own, by citing their authority in the US, not Georgia, constitution.
Pray for their strength and courage.
Gov. Kemp and his S of S are corrupt and desperately trying to thwart anything that might trigger an investigation.
I think they are both filthy dirty.
Please don’t let corruption and fixed Dominion machines stop you from voting again, and again, and again!
Not surprising. .... since Harrison Deal was murdered.
We are at War.
I agree that the Legislature should convene in spite of the governor.
D’rat leaders are largely virtueless creatures.
D’rats scam everyone, but particularly their base — blacks, women, elderly, Millennials and immigrants.
If, God forbid, D’rats take full control, their base will learn the hard way. Then, it will be too late; they will be cooked frogs in a pot.
Well, try it and see if that happens.
It’s Chinese money...
They are trying. They need so many signatures to do it themselves:

He’s saying he will send GA state attorneys in to sue the Legislators if they try to open a session of their own.
Just as they sent GA state attorneys in to try to block Trump lawyers from getting access to forensically inspect any voting machines.
Not surprising after the warning shot “fiery crash” over the weekend
Under the state constitution the legislature has the power to call for a special session but I don't think they have the votes.
The Constitution gives governors no role in federal elections. How then can a governor block the people’s legislators from meeting and voting?
Answer: he can’t.
Traitors! off with thier heads, it was much easier in days of old
That is my understanding of the conventional theory, as well, they need all R’s and even a few D’s to get to 60%, based on various reports.
But I’ve also heard some legal analysis that said they may only need 51% to open a session under their potentially separate power of the US Constitution.
This would have to go to the US Supreme court if course, but it would almost start there.
I see an impeachment in the future for wobbly Kemp.
It is amazing watching people turn on conservative Republicans, who actually campaigned and voted for Trump, all because they are following the legal advice that is provided to them.
If that car explosion really was an attack Kemp knows that his family may be next.
