WASHINGTON—A handful of moderate and institutionalist Senate Republicans were thrust into the spotlight Friday after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death prompted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) to say that he would seek to confirm President Trump’s nominee to replace her on the Supreme Court.

The Senate’s Republicans control 53 votes compared with 47 for the Democrats, giving them enough power to muscle through a Trump nominee. Because Vice President Mike Pence can break any ties, Democrats would need to peel off four Republicans to block Mr. Trump’s pick, a difficult goal to meet given the small number of moderate Republicans in the chamber....

“But overall it’s hard to see how this doesn’t help Republicans politically,” Mr. Conant said. It “really helps the Senate GOP because it puts Dems running in red states in a terrible position, and helps Trump make the election about something other than himself

Liberal heads are exploding, going to be fun to watch, especially how Harris will preform her duties as a judicial committee member while campaigning down the home stretch.

She is also on the Judiciary Committee I believe.

If she Votes no, it’s an 11 /11 Tie. I think that freezes the Nomination.

Collins is not on the judiciary committee.

GOP: Graham, Grassley, Cornyn, Lee, Cruz, Sasse, Hawley, Tillis, Ernst, Crapo, Kennedy and Blackburn.

this will not help ANY republican up for re-Relection, so these liberal tards better have a visit from their Republican colleagues. if we can’t get a judge appointed with the WH and Senate being Republican the base and Republican voters will NOT vote in big numbers in November out of the frustration “it doesn’t matter who we vote for” mentality.

They vote with the Dems on every important piece of legislation. How long do you think Pelosi would tolerate BS like this? I could have written the article 2 weeks ago that her, Murkowski and Romney would vote with the Dems. Yank them off every committee, and primary the hell out of them when they run for reelection.

that’s just to get it out of committee once it’s on the floor the entire senate votes.

Thank you for that information. Gives me hope though we are officially down to only 51 Republicans who “may” Vote in POTUS Trump’s Nominee.

The two RINO Gals from Alaska and Maine have already bailed.

This Confirmation Hearing will be one for the ages, that’s for sure. LOL

graham better go pay this Antifa supporting bitch a visit, because HE is up for re-election and it’s a fight not because he’s not liberal enough but because R’s are tired of the GOP-E idiots.

*IF* the Turtle has the votes lined up, he may have released her to vote no to help her reelection chances.

Regardless, Collins and Murkowski are a No. we can afford one more. McSally is a yes. I assume Gardner is a yes since he’s going to lose anyway. Tillis will be a yes because North Carolina is a red state. Who does that leave? Ernst? Iowa is a mostly red state.

I think we’ve got this

You either want a Republican to name the next justice, or you want a Democrat to name the next justice. If you are an elected Republican, the answer SHOULD be clear.

Trump can name a justice in September, or in January or February. If a Republican is going to name the next justice, it will be Trump. What does it matter what month he names them?

If a Democrat will name the next justice, it will happen in January or February. For this to occur, you have to hope that Trump loses and Joe Biden wins. What elected Republican wants that??

There is no reason to delay this — unless you want Biden to win and for the Democrats to control the government. These elected Republicans: what is their problem?

What about moderate Democrat Senators? Has anyone posted who’s vulnerable to a “no” vote?
