Trump spoke privately with McConnell on Friday night following the news of Ginsburgs death, laying out his preferences for who should replace the liberal justice, according to several people familiar with the conversation.
In the phone call, Trump said he liked Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and Barbara Lagoa of the 11th Circuit, according to two people briefed on the discussion. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to disclose details of a private conversation.

I could go with Judge Jeanine. Talk about a hoot!
Im sure youre right. Remember he released a list of possible nominees last week? There were some well known names, such as Cruz (who said he didnt want it), and others with whom I wasnt familiar.
In any case, I think in addition to picking somebody good, hes going to need somebody whos willing to go through the hell that the Dems are planning.
If this is true, this would be brilliant. It immediately destroys a lot of the Kavanagh-style circus plans. And forces the Democrats to go to war against the feminists.
Agreed. Trump and the Republicans likely have this scenario gamed out already. Expect events to move rapidly and for a new SC justice to be in place by Nov 3.
Also, expect the usual "weak sisters" of the GOP to throw off some chaff, causing the Dems to let down their guard a little. Then the vote will happen and BAM...
The Dems won't know what hit them.
Even better, the Biden/Kamala ticket will get even less traction in the weeks ahead. Trump will be doing 8 campaign rallies a week while Biden "puts a lid" on his campaign events at least every other day. Kamala will be screeching somewhere but not many of us will hear it.
But if a woman is nominated, 90% of the Democrat bag of tricks won’t work anymore and they will have internal strife.
I agree. I'm still waiting to be happy with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.
As it is, the Supreme Court appears to consist of two constitutional conservatives (both in their 70s), two centrists, and four liberals.
Amy Coney Barrett seems the best pic. She has a proven conservative record and survived a disgraceful grilling three years ago so there's no need to hold hearings again.
Most importantly, from reading their internet postings, it's clear that liberals absolutely loath her.
Anyone heard of Stephanie Dawkins Davis. And what her record has been.
So to beat democrats we need to let women run everything? We are doomed.
you can never take a chance on a conservative, the influence that living in Washington has over one ideology is just too much for someone not 100% firm in their convictions to withstand.
The best candidate would be a black conservative honestly. Because they will have been attacked and have been forced to defend their positions their entire lives like Thomas.
Its a trial balloon. Go with Lagoa I say
NSA —> CIA -—>WaPo
+1
any man will be accused ofcsexual assault, which will require “months of investigations”.
Brett amwas an altar boy and we had delays. just easier to use a strong female judge.
picking an hispanic just helps the political pain for democrats., and if trump can use that to win, we could have a chance to replace another judge in the next 4 years
Christopher Wray was easily confirmed too.
I can accurately say that I lack the knowledge to make a decision between the various candidates proposed
Please note however that I have a new tag line
Hopefully pdjt will pick the best Available nominee and get it into McConnell today!

Democrats will take to every media outlet to claim it will be politically dangerous for GOP senators to move a nominee.
The exact opposite is true.
In 2018, 4 D senators lost their seats for opposing Kavanaugh: Heitkamp; Donnelly; McCaskill; Nelson.

Just ... NO. Shes a damn fine woman but too aged to make enough of a difference over the long term.
At age 69, Judge Pirro has missed the call. (Never really was on the right path for it anyway.)
What is so impressive about Lagoa? “Cum laude” at FIU?
Good for her re: Gonzales, but she was far too popular with the Senate Dems.
