Trump spoke privately with McConnell on Friday night following the news of Ginsburg’s death, laying out his preferences for who should replace the liberal justice, according to several people familiar with the conversation.
In the phone call, Trump said he liked Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and Barbara Lagoa of the 11th Circuit, according to two people briefed on the discussion. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to disclose details of a private conversation.

What do we know about Lagoa? Jeb Bush appointee is a little worrisome at first glance. Anyone?
Who who would have thought? This is my shocked face.
Amy Coney Barrett’s judicial philosophy is well known. We also know that she is pro-life and was mercilessly grilled by Dianne Feinstein. That’s why I like her.
Barbara Laoa on the other hand wasveasily confirmed, which tells me that Dems don’t seem to have a problem with her. Her judicial philosophy is also not much known.
Give us Judge Barrett and make the leftists weep!
I hope it is Barbara Lagoa. She has great credentials, is of Cuban American heritage, and could help solidify Florida for Trump.
Also she gave incredibly intelligent answers during her confirmation hearing for the 11th circuit court of appeals.

no way, I have been fooled by this type of appointment in the past. I only want a PROVEN conservative. We have the majority, ram through the youngest most conservative candidate we’ve got!

In forty years, when she is still making decisions. her political role in 2020 will be of no importance - so making sure she will make good decisions is much more important than winning Florida.

RGB’s poor health was no secret, and based on his recently announced list of SCOTUS candidates, I have to believe that Trump had advance notice that she was in her last days. That means he and McConnell must have already carefully prepared for everything they are doing and will do, including counting Senate votes.
