Meryl Streep’s nephew allegedly hurled racist slurs in a road-rage incident in East Hampton, the victim’s lawyer said Wednesday, as photos of the teen’s horrific head injuries emerged.
David Peralta, 18, filed a lawsuit against Charles Harrison Streep over the alleged beatdown on Aug. 24, which required emergency surgery to relieve pressure in his brain, attorney Edmond Chakmakian told The Post.
The John Jay College student and aspiring detective, who lives in East Hampton, is now facing significant cognitive difficulties.

Regardless of who is related to whom, that is a horrible crime of cruelty and loss of control. This is one dangerous person who should be behind bars, not behind a wheel.
The victim’s life is forever changed now, all over someone who could not accept the fact that they did something wrong.
To the contrary. When confronted, they tend to be the very worst offenders.
If all true, this is horrific.
But notice they just HAVE to bring up racial slurs, in the headline, as if THAT is the big deal here. FGS, the guy was beaten up! Get over the name-calling and worry about the assaults and batteries!

Someone believed the name Streep bestowed a cachet of hereditary importance.
Except the Streep scion fled the scene of the crime and was found hiding out on his family’s estate in the Hamptons, being harbored by his parents - which makes them accessories.
I have a nephew who went to prison. Nobody picks their relatives.
Generally I agree with your philosophy. But then I think about that no-talent, insipid actress Mamie Gummer, who gets acting gigs just because she’s Streep’s daughter. So tagging Streep with her entitled, violent, racist nephew seems OK to me.
I think we are discussing this because Meryl’s little turd nephew, due to his relationship with Streep, will get off lightly. Perhaps with a settlement, that with Meryl’s help, he can afford, and then he’ll just go about his business.

So do I, and yes that’s true. But all bets are off when the perp utters those words “Do you know who I am”? It’s my understanding that happen’s alot in those New England hangouts.

That poor young man. The Streep family should pay for his medical expenses and rehabilitation.

This is hilarious - I’ve been watching a lot of Dale Watson’s live streams from Hernando’s Hide-A-Way in Memphis. There is usually music playing in the club before he starts. One recent night when he shut it down, the song that was playing was by Mel Street. He said “Mel Street. What a great actor!”
From one “Opinionated Blowhard” to another, this story made me think Meryl would probably react like her nephew if somebody had the nerve to walk up to her and quote Katherine Hepburn’s remark watching Streep act: “Tick Tock, Tick Tock”. IMHO, Streep is of the most overrated actresses of all time. And who does her family think they are? The Kennedy’s?
