WASHINGTON — President Trump on Monday told reporters has no plans to visit the casket of civil rights hero John Lewis as he lies in state in the US Capitol.
“No, I won’t be going, no,” Trump said when asked if he would travel on Monday or Tuesday to pay his respects.

Whats with this week-long funeral? The only thing he was good at was getting re-elected. So just park the old race-baiter in his crypt and get on with things that impact the living.
I’m a little surprised that PDJT is not going to stop by. It is an unfortunate situation that in these times it takes a lot of courage not to kow-tow to the 12%.
Who holds the record for the worlds longest lasting funeral? James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houstons’ funerals went on for days and days. The eulogies and music goes on and on and on and on. Catholic funerals last about 45 minutes no matter who you are.
And seems each time I change channels, they say how Lewis walked across the bridge in Selma, how he has been beaten up, put in jail........

I kind of agree with that. Respect the rank, not the man. John Lewis was a horrible politician but he did earn his stripes back in the day. Trump should privately ask the family when it would be convenient to attend so as not to disrupt the family’s peace, and then should just do it. Get in, get out.
Nonsense! Had Trump gone he would have been called a hypocrite because according to the liberals Trump is a RACIST.
Let the VP go, it is all Lewis is worthy of and let’s not forget he didn’t attend the presidents inauguration.
If Trump goes, Dems will say “That racist president is trying to upstage our dear member.” If Trump doesn’t go, Dems will say “That racist president doesn’t even have the dignity to visit the casket of our dear member.” Catch-22.
Pre-empting a usual “Family Spokesperson” set later today or tomorrow to announce to us that Trump better now show up?

That IGNORAMOUS John Lewis refused to go to Trump’s inauguration??? LOW CLASS.
His actions in Selma were for a worthy cause, but Lewis dined out on them for the rest of his reprehensible career. It is ironic that far too many of the politicians sent to the District of Corruption by newly empowered black voters were or became race baiting, anti Constitution, anti American leeches firmly attached to the American taxpayer.
I agree-Lewis was a rabid and hateful racist, too-and he hated pres Trump-insulted him several times-I don’t think it would even be safe for the pres to go anywhere near that casket-there could be any number of antifa/BLM types nearby, intent on harming our president-I’m glad he is staying away...
Why go where he’s not welcome. Besides, Lewis boycotted Trump’s inauguration. Respect is a two way street.
A Presidential visit would entail additional security screenings and even longer waits for the mourners under the cloudless DC sky in 90+ degree heat.
His staying away is an act of kindness.
