The United Arab Emirates has succeeded with the initial stage of its first ever Mars mission, thanks to the launch of an H-IIA rocket built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries from Tanegashima Space Center in Japan on Sunday. The rocket carried the Al Amal (Hope) Probe for the UAE, a Mars orbiter that is set to arrive at the red planet by February 2021, and spend a Martian year (687 days) on orbit around Mars collecting data about its atmosphere.
This is the first of three separate planned missions to Mars that are scheduled to take place during July, including a launch of a Mars orbiter and launder from China set to take place later this week, and NASAs Mars Perserverance rover mission, which is currently planed for July 30...

Thanks (not) UAE for choosing Japan over USA for your space venture.
“UAE successfully launches Mars probe aboard Japanese H-IIA rocket”
UAE didn’t do shit but pony up the money ... the satellite itself was built by the University of Colorado and launched on a Japanese rocket which was launched FROM Japan BY the Japanese ...
Perhaps and probably, American firms were to expensive and they bought the launch at a better price.
You should not confuse economics with politics.
Thanks shove_it.
Well, Mars has lots of sand and rocks............Oil, we don’t know yet...................
Japanese rocket get better mileage..................
This is one huge glaring example of the incompetence of NASA.
HAHAHA!
And run on saki.
Japanese rockets are thought to be “RICE BURNERS” by the misguided
Ignorance, positively ignorance on display
Lotsa Elon Musk shots going off at KSC.
“UAE didnt do shit but pony up the money”
I’ll give them credit for supporting it. It’s better than funding suicide bombers.
Yeah, but the high pitched whine of those crotch rockets hurts my ears.
Nothing beats the sound of an American v-twin. Just sayin'.
You might want to check the booking queue for satellites on US launchers. It’s booked *years* in advance - I think the first opening is 2025. The Japanese have spare capacity.
Yes, all the sounds of the parts falling off because of the poor quality and the scraping of the CHROOOOOOOOME because the lean angles suck.

I believe it’s a scheduling issue. US launchers have a several year backlog at current and the Japanese have spare capacity.

You forgot the valuable training of the UAE “aerospace engineers”.
That’s much like the Saudis training petrochemical engineers. My buddy worked for ARAMCO, and he said that if any of the refineries or pumping stations were turned over to the Saudi engineers, it would be about two weeks before everything was either shut down or burned up.
The United States is the only country to successfully land on Mars, and we’ve been doing for over 40 years. Another lander and rover is set to launch in less than two weeks.
